You are right this conversation isn't worth having. Enjoy XCX advanced beard textures, lip sync and lack of clipping.

I find it amusing how you think that would affect me in any way. Play the games dude, not the graphics.

Look whos talking

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine

I really struggle to understand this whole thing and it still feels like stepping into the twilight zone when coming to these threads. I have been recently trying to play Dragon age inquisition and one of the most off-putting things i have been trying to overlook are the character faces. They all look hideous. Yeah, they all have these shape, color and shine options but they look creepy and unatural to me, because they are trying to mimic realistic faces.

Xenoblade X doesnt waste time with that and gives us anime style faces that are way easier to look at. Maybe its because not everyone ever watched anime or ever played RPG's wich are stylised around it. It makes no sense to me. If, people said they dont have all the details a human face has, i can understand, but when people say they look bad, even in the case of cross having the evil eyes, i just cant agree or understand. They definitly do not look like the aberrations i see on dragon age, a game where this was never brought up as an issue.

Those complaints generally come to nintendo games and are ignored elsewhere.

Please, such criticism isn’t limited to Nintendo. Dragon Age Inquisition has been fairly and unfairly criticized for a lot of things.

  • From the world being supposedly "large" and "empty".

  • To not being “a true open world” game.

  • To having too many "fetch quests".

  • To not deserving so many game of the year awards.

  • Its been criticized for having an underdeveloped villain and a simple story.

  • Others say its gameplay and too simple

  • It also runs at 30fps on consoles (*gasp* the horror).

  • It has been criticized for animations as well (XCX is already looking much worse in this department).

However, no one, to my knowledge, has brought up such absurd claims about the characters models. Everything he complains about is evidently worse in XCX which makes it even more pathetic. It goes beyond the realm of nitpicking and borders on flaming. The vast majority of spectators agree that character models in XCX look off. Unless we all don’t know what animé is (WTF)  Id say the only logical conclusion is we are right, the character models DO infact look off.

So far the only criticism towards X is character models and whelp its a “conspiracy”, we are all "haters" who "wont buy the game anyway". *rollseyes*

It really doesnt make me go into Dragon Age threads to say how crap i think the faces are. How is it with you and Xenoblade?

But you were making side-by-side comparisons. If you can see the difference between these two Shulks then there is a visible difference between 3DS Shulk vs XCX and Wii Shulk vs XCX. Even if accidental, it was misleading to use a picture from the 3DS version.

I was making a comparison between games, not versions. Whether it's the 3DS version or the Wii version makes absolutely no difference in the point I was making.

This thread was specifically created to discuss the character models in XCX . In case you haven't noticed, even some Nintendo fans acknowlege that the faces do infact look off. IGN uploads a video about why they are excited for XCX, and they also mention the character models. They stand out to a lot of people (not in the right way). Are we ALL talking crap about the game? Do we ALL not know what anime is? Personally I've said the faces look "off" and "bad". I havent used phrases like crap,  incredibly fake, creepy, unnatural or  "aberration". You're the one who went all ham and cheese on DA:I for no apparent reason.

I think the main issue is that the original Xenoblade was more anime-like, as most JRPGs are. X is trying to go for a realistic scenario and for anime faces that won't blend well. It looks more like someone using a mask in static shots. And the face models/textures are below average too and contrast with the rest of the games visuals.

Regarding animations, most RPGs have terrible animations anyway. Skyrim does, Dragon Age does. Shadow of Mordor, even if it's more like an action RPG, is that bright lonely star that even with a big open world still manages to create superb animations (specially clothes that look unbeliavable in motion).

The good things XCX have a bad looking character are, so they can put more effort on making the world and optimizing the gameplay.

The eyes of some the players look weird, on the verge of strabismus, otherwise they look nice, since you can create your character, I don't see it as a problem as there are great levels of customisation shown so far! Some npc have great design!

Xeno X is clearly not anime in it's entirety. it seems like a mix of anime with realistic details. oh, FF 15 isn't anime, it's trying to be realistic with a drop of anime in the middle.

This is the 1st time of heard of such a claim, from developers or even fans. It isnt reflected in the monsters, environments or mechs (which all look as realistic despite being 'fantasy' elements). Sounds like damage control.

is there such a thing as anime mechs/enviroments? I'm clearly saying the CHARACTERS are a mix of anime with realism.
