Forums - Nintendo - Is Splatoon being rushed?

I was hoping that they would have found a way to add 4 player co op. Something like a Horde mode. I thought that would have been a lot of fun.

So the game has no chat voice and now is a shit, like Mario Kart 8 and Smash.... oh wait...

Who here has said the lack of these features makes the whole game "shit"?

Having many modes doesn't make the game more appealing per se, again League is mostly played on Summoner's Rift. It doesn't need the other modes to be successful. Sure no point spitting on them but they are added features, not fundamental. If the player base proves solid, then they could add in those other features in the future.

can't disagree more.  if i picked up uncharted 4 and the only option was team death match i would never play the multiplayer even though that's my favorite mode.  the various modes are what add new gameplay to a game.  yes, gameplay, the thing nintendo fans value above all else.  capture the flag is a different gameplay from team death match,.. team vs. team is differnt from an all-for-one is different from team vs. bots.   this variety is what makes a game fun for longer than just a bit ergo making the game more appealing.

...and it's not like it would be hard to not fracture the userbase and still ofter a variety of gameplay options if the concern is the community will be smallish.   have multiple game modes but have the only player option be a "playlist".   i'm not a creative person but it took me all 5 seconds to think of the idea that the first game could be based on territory capture and the next game be based on "kills",.. one game is 4 vs 4 and the next 2 vs 2 vs 2 vs 2.  i mean, i'm not wrong in thinking that idea is blatantly obvious.   ..or am i just a fucking genius here?

not rushed.  lazy.  nintendo.

playstation all-stars was considered "incomplete" because it had less content and features than smash.

ergo,. splatoon is "incomplete". there is no getting around that people will compare to what they already know.

All-Stars was a blatant copy of Smash. Of course people compared it with Smash.

Splatoon is a very unique game with no obvious draft.

Not rushed. Like others said, just the usual Nintendo decisions

Due to recent news it may seem so. So far Splatoon lacks features that are common for online shooter at this point of the gaming world.

These include:

1. No voice chat in random online matches

2. No bots available in 4 vs 4 matches

3. No online modes other than the one 4 vs 4 match in random online matches*

*We have no info about online matches with friends yet

Compared to other FPS and TPS with online modes made by well known developers, this is pretty barebone. Or are we asking too much from Nintendo? Have we taken for granted that other FPS and TPS offer much more options?

Splatoon is planned to release this May. Will Nintendo have time to revise and add more features? Or will they stick to what they have?

You just mentioend preatty much all things why COD sucks, well the game itself aswell, but the community is horrendous, i dont get it, if you want to chat just have skype or something, stop being naive

Nintendo never does online right. NEVER. It's kinda killing me inside because it's sort of a standard. Always loved Nintendo, just wish they'd pay attention to the times once in a while. That would make their games that much more epic than they already are. I just found that this is due to certain staff members that don't want to change their mindsets from 1992. It's sad really.

No. Nintendo just really doesn't like features since they still think that they need to protect children from online hate and such.

What so necessary about those features though? The game can be great without them.

It's not that it is necessary but it sure doesn't hurt. If anything it only helps. Having standard online features is something that NIntendo should have pioneered. But instead, their faculty wants to stay 20 years in the past. Their games are fun as hell, don't get me wrong and that's all that SHOULD matter, but in a world where gaming is constantly changing and new standards are being set, you can't afford to work against them. It's like Nintendo not wanting to adapt CDs or DVDs as a storage medium. It wasn't really great at first but then they became standards in the industry. That eventually cost Nintendo the 5th and 6th generations. No, this may not seem as revolutionary now but Nintendo better hop on soon with online. Heck, the world is going online.
