Depends on the game. Games like Animal Crossing, Harvest Moon or MMOs I just play as myself games like Zelda I just always name the character "Link". I always pick the female trainer in Pokemon, it's pretty much tradition at this point.

I like that in Animal Crossing, you can choose and wear girl option clothes, so you can still be yourself, but do a sort of cosplay with your villager character. Boy, that actually sounds kinda weird now...!

It varies.

Currently, with MMO's I like to play a Female as I have a certain name I like to use that just doesnt fit a male.

With games like say, Mass Effect or TES where you can create your look, its best to go with Female because the male options always look idiotic. However, with the likes of Pokémon which you mentioned in your OP I will go Male.

Depends. I prefer looking at female characters, but my choice kind of depends on whether there's any kind of role-playing involved and if there is, what kind of a role I want to play.

I'm not really consistent in how I choose my avatar. It usually depends on the default/customization options for each gender and/or what kind of character I'm in the mood to roleplay. I have a pretty even split, honestly.

I pick a guy because I'm a guy.

I normally pick a female unless I have the option of putting the males in womens clothes.. I loved the clothing options in Dead Rising 3 for this reason. Sunset Overdrive has fun clothing options as well.

I generally choose the guy option.

One of the few exceptions for me is Pokemon X/Y because the male trainer looks like a total derp in those ones.

It really depends on the game. Usually, I will use both. Mainly during replay. In Pokemon's case. I end up buying both versions. So in the second version I use the girl. In Mass Effects case. I use fem shep. The voice actor for male sucks. Other games that have both options. Both. When I replay the game, I'll just use the other gender. So it isn't the same thing. Plus, you unlock stuff in Saints Row, if you play as both.

In Saints Row 3, I had a girl who looked like a superhero side kick character, like Robin. It was so awesome, and I thoroughly enjoyed it : )

I acually went male in Saints Row 4, but then went female for he trophy of playing as both genders for 2 hours and I just never switched back, as much as I love Nolan North the female voice I chose was great!

You can still use Nolad Norths voice on your female character :P.

I know, but that would just upset my brain.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'
