Its not MS or Sony's responsibility. They could become strict and now allow broken games to release on their systems but both are guilty of doing it too.

not to be that guy but do you mean for a nintendo console cause then soonic boom? |
I mean for a Nintendo game, when I see Nintendo on a Nintendo game, since they were forced by 3rd parties out of the "Seal of Quality" control, Nintendo has nothing to do with 3rd party releases, it's on them, Sonic Boom is a Big Red Button game published by Sega!

You might not like them, I personnaly don't like all Nintendo games, I tryed to get on Smash Bros. but I don't like it so the last one I bought was on GameCube, but one can't deny that it's a quality game, polished & all.
I agree with you that Nintendo are far from perfect, but again when I see a game made by Nintendo I know that a certain level of work, quality, passion, polish (not the people ;P) & testing was put in the game.
They earned that trust from me by releasing the best games for the last 30 years, any gamer should recognize that despite of personal tastes, don't you agree?

They both let 3rd party publishers dictate what they do. They have done this since they first stepped on the scene. Nintendo still makes their own systems with their own setups, but Sony and MS let the 3rd party pubs decide their hardware. Sony and MS have been their puppet for the longest time.
*spoilers*
It kinda reminds me of Breaking Bad. Nintendo is Gus Fring. They have a good system set up, everyone is happy (if you're not greedy), everyone gets paid, and everyone makes money if they do what they are supposed to do.
MS and Sony bowing to 3rd party publishers remind me of the chaos of Walter White. They keep bumbling and fumbling and eventually they will take down everything around them.

On the flip side, what are we comparing their games to? Nintendo? While no one may be saying it, I feel Nintendo games simply aren't as technically demanding or complicated as the games we see on the PS4/XB1. Simply put, Nintendo games are easier to make and generally have fewer moving parts. I'll emphasize, I'm saying Nintendo games are generally more straight forward and easier design wise, not saying they are less fun before some people lynch me. |
They are so easy to do, that few can match them @ doing games on their standart of quality. Games are more than technique & polygons, I understand that lots of gamers wronlgy use that metric to judge if a game is good or not nowadays.
Here is a game made by Intelligent Systems that is going to release this year: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbrJHX4vufs a game "easy" to make by your metric... have your heard of Tetris???

Not really no but i wont get into why. Im glad you like them and trust them though. Theyre a good company and make good games.
Say what you want about Assassin's Creed: Unity but it was certainly a better game than Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric. Hence my confusion as to why you excluded Nintendo from your complaint.

Back when NIntendo had the "Seal of Quality" 3rd party games were of much higher standart & has much less bugs. No game can be 100% exempt of bugs but some are more dedicated at selling quality products than others. " After all, tons of games on Nintendo systems have had bugs and some were even honestly and truly broken", I am yet to play these "truly broken" games you speak of... maybe you forget to end your sentence with /s |
That "Seal of Quality" thing, do you really believe that? The NES and SNES had a ton of crappy, buggy games and Nintendo took their money all the same. People just lie to themselves about the past and I don't really understand why.
I mean, seriously.

I guess you've never heard of Battletoads, huh? Or the Donkey Kong Country 2 glitch that can actually ruin your cartridge? /s
