I guess that's cuz' you're already paying for Internet, and you can play online for free easily on a PC.
I'm now filled with determination.

Doesn't bother me. I paid for PS+ before it was mandatory for MP. So nothing changed.

I don't really mind paying for it as long as it gives me a good working connection.

Sega pioneered all of this back on the Dreamcast. I am humbled and gracious that they took online console gaming out of the ghetto, otherwise you're right, we'd probably be back in the PS2 days. Could you imagine? Activision would have a CoD Field Pass required to play online, plus you'd need a CoD account. EA would have some sports online pass requiring an EA account, plus something else for their non-sports games (bundle and save!). Crapcom would go HAM with all sorts of shenanigans. Ubisoft would require UPlay for all their games with yet another separate account required. Terrible. |
I had never thought about this before and I think you're right. Good thing it didn't turn out this way I almost took a seizure thinking about it
Because I'm already paying $60 for a game and $299/$399 for a console, why should I pay an extra $5 for an essential part of a game? And then comes DLC, some microtransactions, and a season pass making a game cost ~$100... If you're fine with that, great (and I understand, specially with the "free" games), but it would bother me a lot if it comes to Nintendo consoles.
Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

because it was something you needn't to pay for 2 years ago. Anyways, people is happy not complaining.
I really hope Sony invests some of their PSN money back into PSN. These download speeds are just stupid. I have FIOS with very good up and down speeds but redownloading this Dying Light update... lulz. Was on WiFi at first and it was telling me 11 hours for an update less than 2GB in size. I plug it in directly and it's still saying 40 minutes, fuck. Not going to be buying digital much on PS4.
Huh.. Thats funny since steam provided all the features in online gameplay that the console does.
I've never payed for online on console. I'm doing alright if I say so myself.
Because they essentially add $200 or so to the actual cost of the console. Plus, Sony and Microsoft seem to have trouble justifying that the extra expense is worth it, especially with things like security breaches, online services being down for periods of time, and the high standard set by the PC as mentioned above.
I'd imagine that people who wanted more of a single player experience would also be annoyed, especially since many games only feature online support in small ways, but I'm not sure why these people would buy a PS4 or XOne as of right now.
