Now will Bloodborne sell less than the Dark Souls 2 Prophets of Whatever Whateverness next gen remaster ? thats an interesting debate.
i had to goes to the numbers.
the souls series is becoming increasingly front loaded as it's fan base becomes more dedicated. comparing dark souls 2 to boarderlands 2 you'll notice that DS2 opened with 588k while BL2 opened with 549k. quite close really.
i think bloodborne will take it simply because at least a portion of those half a million BL fans that bought it already on ps3 won't buy it again. should be close though.
also,.. lol at taking two franchises with nearly identical sales per platform and calling one niche and the other popular. oh what will they think of next..
Is this guy serious. Bloodborne is a niche title?? NOOO, demon souls maybe, and that sold a million with almost no advertising. But we've had two souls game since and Bloodborne is getting plenty of hype. Bloodborne will definitely sell more.
As a huge fan of Borderlands and not the soul series I am more likely to buy Bloodborne because it is a fresh title for this gen. I am willing to bet most Borderlands fans will be waiting until Borderlands 3 because of how badly the prequel sold, the fact that the games appear mostly the same on PS3 and PS4. Hell, Borderlands two is currently on sale on 360 for a $6 steal.
Borderlands is much bigger than the souls series over all though.

Souls is niwhere near in sales to Borderlands. It's barely selling half the units. It's niche because it sells to fans of a particular genre and is completely inaccessible to anybody outside.
Borderlands is a FPS which is significantly more popular among general population. It is very accessible and easy to play. Also, I believe that many newcomers that pucked up a PS4 for Destiny will give BL a shot, as it is of similar gameplay aspects with a lot of character modification. BL has a chance to pick up a portion of new audience there.

Of course not.
Bloodborne will probably do more than 1.5 million, maybe even more than 2 million, while the remake for dark souls 2 will do...what...300k units ?

only if you pit exclusive sales against all platform sales. if you just look at ps3 sales they sell pretty similar. and if you are seriously going to tell me a game that sold 2 and 3 million units is "niche" i'm just done talking to you now because you just decribed all but like 10 active franchises..
edit: and your, "- BL2 sold over 2 million on PS3, but PreSequel barely made it to half million. Many fans have obviously moved to PS4 already (along with some X360 users) and will jump on the opportunity to play it now." works against you in a lot of ways. dark souls 2 launched after the ps4 just like the presequel and guys like me had already moved to ps4 and were waiting for the eventual ps4 port. ..and ds2 was double the presequel.

Yeah but this isn't a new Borderlands, just another upscaled port. Which I'm pretty sure most people are sick of. Bloodborne is a brand new PS4 exclusive which Sony will hype out and already has a ton of pre orders and will easily sell in the millions. Not a niche title at all, heck dark souls 2 sold over 2 million. How is tht niche??? We have people from Totalbiscuit to Pewdipie that loves the souls games. NOT NICHE
FW will probably go to Bloodborne, but I could see Borderlands taking LTD.
