Perhaps you should take your own advice.

transitive verb
to introduce as or as if new
intransitive verb
to make changes :  do something in a new way
Using a nework controller isnt introducing something new  - it isnt new, it exists before, it isnt using the network controller in a new way either, its still being used for tcp/ip packet transition between a common network, the same as it always has been.

Then if we actually use merriam-webster to search for "innovation" rather than "innovate", we get.

a new idea, device, or method
the act or process of introducing new ideas, devices, or methods
And the claims become even less representitive of innovation..

You are clearly hurt by the idea that your favored console isnt responsible for the claimed innovations, but save us all the chore of dealing with your tantrums here, do you think any level headed user on these forums right now actually agrees with you?

You tried to waltz in and use a dictionary definition to make a point, without comprihending that very definition, and that's genuinely sad.

Don't try to spin it becuase your friend got served. The OP mentions things directly to XBOX and MSFT, he is correct. Acheivements-check, internal HD-check, XBL-check (unless you are saying sega had XBOX live), Halo-check it evolved Goldeneye to worldwide multiplayer gaming on consoles, WRPG's subjective but Mass Effect, Star Wars.... did start getting ported over from PC first. The OP also could have mentioned RTS games on console. All in all stop the downplay, it's sad watching you get so upset MSFT has contributed to gaming.

Both in terms of introducing new ideas and approaches, most of the stuff the OP said does not fit either criteria. I mean we can argue the definition of "innovation", but what's the point?

Do you even hear yourself. This is what you said So you think bringing something that already exists, to another playform, is innovation? wow

By definition, introducing another method to something that already exists is innovation. GAME OVER you lose, stop digging the hole an accept this loss.

All true though I don't agree with the WRPG part. Those would've been popular on consoles no matter what. Just having them on your console doesn't make you an innovator.

- Atari already had achivements with Activision

- X68000 was the first to have internal storage. Hard drives weren't a feasable option back in the day.

- Sega Dreamcast introduced the idea first. XBL popularized the idea.

- Halo was developed by Bungie. The credit, therefore, goes to Bungie. Also, games like Quake existed long before Halo.

Once again, you are saying the computer printer wasn't innovative cause of the Gutenberg printing press. And it's not even that. Achievements are totally different than the Atari stuff. And the X68000 isn't even a console nor did it use a hard drive. Wikipedia even emphasizes that it has no hard drive!

It seems more about hating on Microsoft than anything else.... Sony is known as "innovative" even though they have innovated pretty much nothing. Although the PS2 was the greatest console of all time, it was extremely anti-innovative.
