What most people dont understand which makes GOW so successful is that it is the proper marriage of gameplay and story. Bayonetta is not. Platinum Game is not good at that, which is why Microsoft is taking the reigns with that portion of the story in Scalebound while Platinum uses Microsofts financial resources to make the broadest gameplay they've ever financially been able to accomplish. God of War represents everything Sony is stands for which is an epic story marriage with gameplay, not gameplay itself.

Wait, people actually like God of War's story? I thought it was largely considered to be a pretty terrible excuse for the cool setpieces...

Have you actually played the trilogy? All three games literally finish where the other leaves off. Its like a thread. Anyone who is smart and played the third knows the game isnt over. After the third was over it lead to the biggest conversation over what will happen next in the series with Athena.

Wasnt their answer but it was better than the last few GOW games in general imo

that's pure baseless speculation. we don't even know how much Nintendo is involve in developing progress aside from funding.

and Bayonetta 2 already have more overall cutscene time than a movie game like TLoU with shorter time to finis according to HowLongToBeat.com

Sure Nintendo has too much money to fund something and publishes the end result "as given"... don't know what you're thinking.

Maybe you should take a look at the credits roll...

About the cut scenes: Bayonettas cutscenes where really hard to follow in their "artistic" style whereas Bayonettas 2 cut scenes where not only more easily to watch and follow but also - what a coincidence - much cheaper to produce...

As you can only spend money once we all know deep inside what would have happend if Bayonetta 2 would have been developed for the XBox and PlayStation audience: more focus on overall graphics and cut scenes, less focus on gameplay and smooth difficulty settings.

This discussion is prove of that already.

Gameplaywise I would be inclined to agree, but I love a great story.

That doesn't make the story any better, it just dissolves into murder murder murder blood blood rage after the first game...I've heard more people laughing at how ridiculously caricatured Kratos is than people actually praising the story. Its just a messy excuse for cool setpieces...

An exclusive hack n slash has no chance again god of war serie

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I think it was more statement more then anything else. Of all the ''big'' games they could have swiped up at the time Bayonetta was probably one of the more obvious choices on paper, relatively low budget (tick), super reliable and fast developers (tick) and appealing to a more hardcore demographic (tick).

Realistically hack and slash is niche, GOD of War is the exception. Even past devil may cry's didn't have huge blockbuster numbers.

Bayonettas story is as "over the top" as its gameplay.

Don't know GoW - but ripping of greek mythology is always a good idea as it has not only a lot to offer but is basically the "foundation" of western mythology in general.

Bayonetta story isn´t so bad for an action game , and I think Bayonetta character is much more unique and charismatic than the stereotypical insensible super macho man that Kratos is IMO I won´t say Bayo story is better anyway but, personally, i like it more too.
