Forums - Gaming - Was Bayonetta 2 Nintendo's answer to God Of War?

I think the idea that different consoles need to respond to specific games is ridiculous. I'd say it was more to fill a hole in the library than to compete specifically with another game.

Also, these games are at opposite ends of the genre (imo)...

Bayoneta 2 was funded because nintendo wanted to prove the WiiU was going to be more dedicated to the hardcore audience than the Wii.

by ruining a potential of such a great game with shitty hardware?

Yes, all reviewers have agreed on this. If this games had been released on Ps4 they wouldn't have ruined the cinematic feel with shitty 60fps.

i'm talking about potential  of the game. not the game as it is right now. yes it was great but with better hardware or maybe  with a pc version the game could have done more than that. the game heavily limit by hardware and i didnt run at 60fps for most part of the game it's 45fps. and to be fair if the game was on Ps4 with this last gen graphic it could run at 60fps lock

Yes, maybe. Too bad no pulsiher saw any potetial except for Nintendo.

I think Bayonetta is as good as God of War gameplay wise, obviously GoW will always come out on top in graphics which is important to some, others, not so much. (although I don't like Bayonetta's overly sexual tones, it's just eye-rolling for me) Greek Mythos appeals to me more than whatever Bayo's story/world is.

Sorry but Both Bayonetta's are a 10/10 in my book, with B2 slightly higher due to online and better save system.

Did you play both on the Wii U?

I did. I played Bayonetta 2 first and then Bayonetta. I was shocked how much higher the quality of gameplay is in Bayonetta 2.

Bayonettas difficulty curve is totally different to Bayonetta 2s. While Bayonetta 2 makes you always feel great and enganged regardless of the choosen difficulty - Bayonetta does not.

Bayonetta fails big here. And thats something I bet Nintendo had an eye on...

No because it's Platinums best thing.

Also, Bayonetta > God of War. GoW doesn't even appeal to me since it's over-blooded and mythology. Bayonetta appealed to me every since I saw it in 2013.

Well just because it doesn't appeal to you doesn't make it worse. Pretty much no PS exclusive appeals to you, doesn't make them bad games.

Your correct sir. But there's 3 though. (that bird flying colourful thingy +  Abzu + Uncharted.)

Xbox ONE has 5.

What most people dont understand which makes GOW so successful is that it is the proper marriage of gameplay and story. Bayonetta is not. Platinum Games is not good at that, which is why Microsoft is taking the reigns with that portion of the story in Scalebound while Platinum uses Microsoft's financial resources to make the broadest gameplay they've ever financially been able to accomplish. God of War represents everything Sony is stands for which is an epic story marriage with gameplay, not gameplay itself.

Yes. I bought a Wii U mostly for the two games.

Looks like Bayonetta is too hardcore for you. But seriously, I played B1 on Normal mode (harder than B2's second climax) and in the later missions I always died multiple times, but I did not mind because it was sooo fun and I liked the challenge! With B2 I started with 2nd Climax thinking it's same diffuclty, but I will replay all chapters at B2's Hard mode. (= Normal in B1).

Nintendo had no eye on the game development. Platinum even approched Nintendo and asked if they can use N's IP's and Nintendo basically said "sure"and so we have Nintendo character costumes. Platinum wanted the new game to be more friendly to newcomers. Not Nintendo. You should read thier blogs/tweets on thier site imo.

B2's moves are more fluid because it's a newer game, and there is this Umbran Climax addition.  They were both 10/10's for me.

I can tell you what would have happend if anybody else then Nintendo would have funded the game: MORE cut scenes. LESS focused gameplay. MORE distracting minigames. LESS quality and polished gameplay.

Get it: Nintendo was the best thing which could possibly happen to Bayonetta 2.

that's pure baseless speculation. we don't even know how much Nintendo is involve in developing progress aside from funding.

and Bayonetta 2 already have more overall cutscene time than a movie game like TLoU with shorter time to finis according to HowLongToBeat.com

Nintendo doesn't answer to anyone.

Which publisher known for quality software will NOT overlook the development and its progress?

Of course they ALL do. Even more if the publisher is funding the whole thing.
