It just occurred to me how ironic this problem is:

To my knowledge, Nintendo is the only of the big three with a first party open world RPG franchise (Xenoblade Chronicles), much less multiple RPG franchises. Unless I missed something with Sony and MS?

I...think you're right? I mean, Xenoblade, Fire Emblem, Paper Mario, Golden Sun, The Last Story, Pandora's Tower, Mario & Luigi, Mother and Pokemon. I don't think either of the others have 1st party RPG franchises.

I really wish we'd see all of these appear on the Wii U (well, except Mario & Luigi, that's always been a handheld series). Nintendo have the IPs necessary to build a solid RPG library for the console, they just need to take the time to develop them.

Yeah, the open world RPG is the real shocker though since, after Oblivion and especially Skyrim's success you would think Sony and MS would have jumped all over that.  Maybe they will, I don't know, but it's funny that Nintendo of all of them is the first to have a game in a similar vein (minus, obviously, the battle system which is entirely different).

And yeah, Nintendo seems to have had to take a beating the past couple years to learn they need to push more of their IP together and have a diverse library earlier on.  The Wii U will probably have a competent showing from several of those IP in the long run, but they need to try and have them come out throughout their console life cycles rather than a ways in.

Agreed. Here's hoping they've learned this for the Wii U's successor. :P

i think White Knight Chronicles is there, they also have Legend of Dragoon but im not expecting to see those at all.

RPG's I would LOVE to see on the Wii U are...

Breath of Fire - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Breath_of_Fire

Breath of Fire has some of the most engaging gameplay from a series I have ever experienced. Particularly from BoF3 onward. Capcom seems to have decided that this title is best off on the moblie platform, which is really sad to see. BoF is best known for its transformation system which allows you to become a powerful dragon hybrid. BoF 3 had an amazing indepth story line which spanned childhood as well as adulthood and delt with loss, love, and making your way through the world as an outsider. Most recognizable character: Ryu(http://www.hardcoregaming101.net/bof/bof3-ryu.jpg)

Tales of - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tales_%28series%29

The Tales of series has a long history going all the way back to the SNES. The Tales series is best known for its deep and engaging combat system. Tales of Eternia was revolutionary for its time, forgoing a tradtional turn based combat system for a side-scrolling active combat style which has grew with and evolved in the series to this day. While the stories are generally criticized for being somewhat generic, none can deny the depth and challenge the combat offers. Most recognizable character: Various http://i105.photobucket.com/albums/m237/Gearsecond/TalesWALLPAPER2preview.jpg

Wild ARMS - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wild_Arms_%28series%29

Aside from a recent entry on the PSP, the Wild ARMS series seems to have been abandoned, which is a real shame. Best known for its in-depth puzzles and customizable weapons known as 'ARMs', the series generally mixes technology from a lost age as well as old west themes to combine for a truly unique experience. While not directly connected, most of the games view 'ARMs' as lost technology which helped decimate the environment and those who use them are ostracized out of fear. Most recognizable character: Rudy Roughknight http://s42.photobucket.com/user/ishrin/media/Rudy-2.gif.html

I really believe that any of these titles has great potential to do well for Nintendo, or third paries going forward. Each one offered unique gameplay and have excellent potential to take advantage of the gamepad in unique ways.

“What I say is, a town isn't a town without a bookstore. It may call itself a town, but unless it's got a bookstore it knows it's not fooling a soul.”  - Neil Gaiman

If the project won't go awry, Super Cane Magic Zero reached not only its fundraising main goal for PC, Mac, Android and iOS versions, but also three stretch goals, for Win Phone and PSV version and, tah-daaaaaah! Wii U version! Main versions should launch this year, according to Steam, but I don't know when the other versions will too. Main, single player mode is a wacky action RPG, while bonus local multiplayer mode is a wacky fighting game using the same characters and objects (and people) throwing combat of the single player mode. Yeah, you can knock out your rivals and throw them around, possibly into lava.
