I'm still expecting it to manage 3 million lifetime.
My SIG says 5 million lifetime(including digital). I'd say all the issues its had since launch has cost it anywhere from 250-500k sales so far. And the lack of marketing just as much as well.
It should still do about 4 million lifetime including digital but those too issues cost it from hitting 5. And another thing my 5 million prediction was on the upper side of what I've seen, and me being in the ms threads I've seen what the ms fans think. 6 million was the highest I seen.
Halo MCC will sell 5+ million copies(including digital)
halo 5 will sell 10 million copies(including digital)
x1 will pass ps4 in USA, and UK.

Exactly. Plus it was up against one of the most innovative COD games in years, Advanced Warfare. Then there's Desiny which launched 2 months before. It never had a chance to sell like a mainline Halo game.
Halo Anniversary did about 2.3 million according to this site, the install base of Xbox One is much smaller than 360 so 1.8 million at this time is pretty good. It will have legs and sell over 3 million lifetime.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.
remakes and ports don't really sale that much in general with some exceptions, we also need to factor in the Xbox One's install base, and the match making problems basically made the game infamous.
It had an excellent first week. It sold significantly more then Halo: Anniversary in its first week despite the XB1's tiny install base compared to the 360 when Halo: Anniversary came out. Infact it has the third highest opening week of any xb1 title. Only Destiny and Call of Duty: Advance Warfare have it beat. That is very impressive for a remake.
It was promised as more than just a remake of the campaigns which was what halo anniversary was. That's why its first week's sales were higher. It ended up for the most part only having playable campaigns which is why after its first week it dropped to halo anniversary level weekly sales.

This and the outragous 20gb file to download at launch form something that should have been on the disc. This is why I refused to buy it and will not unless they release a full version. I was one of those hyped people for it too.
I don't think any real XBOX fan expected it to sell like a mainline Halo, you might be confusing that with expected scores. I think the negative launch cost it about 400k sales. Either way it's still selling great for a remaster and it will continue to have legs until Halo 5. I think it will hit 4 million lifetime.
Seems like pretty dang good sales to me! This is a remaster collection, not a new game. 1.86 mill for the first couple months and probably 4-5 million lifetime is probably going to end up being the best sell through of any remaster collection to date!
