Forums - Microsoft - Can we talk about how disappointing Halo MCC sales have been this holiday?

Who expected it to track like a main Halo title? toastboy?

There was a thread made last year with lots of people saying things like,  mcc selling less than smash Bros is crazy talk.

I think it's a combination of small install base, bad word of mouth and halo declining.  Dunno which is having the biggest affect.

Around the Network

Small userbase and online problems in a game almost copmletely multiplaye oriented stoped the sales of this games in its tracks.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Myself and 4 friends of mine bought Halo MCC digitally. The game had a 20 GB patch day one for christs sake. Anyone not preloading that shit digitally is crazy...

I think the sales are decent for a remake. It's stacking up pretty well against CE anniversary. I know it has more content, but the difference in use base balances it out.

I don't think any real XBOX fan expected it to sell like a mainline Halo, you might be confusing that with expected scores. I think the negative launch cost it about 400k sales. Either way it's still selling great for a remaster and it will continue to have legs until Halo 5. I think it will hit 4 million lifetime.

No there was a lot of crazy predict

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I dont think people were expecting mainline halo numbers. That Halo 3, Reach, and 4 has all sold 10m+. so i doubt anybody thought it would do that.

Most people were comparing it to Halo Anniversary but said it would sell more which it is going to. While i dont have factual evidence id say most people are predicting 3-5m lifetime. Keyword is lifetime here, not 8 weeks. Itll very likely reach 3m+

But yes the launch woes did hurt it no doubt about it. Its sad that it had those problems. Should teach them to beta test for now on.

However 1.8m is far from dissapointing.

0.50m to 0.65m 8 2.52%

0.65m to 0.80m 21 6.60%

0.80m to 1.0m 36 11.32%

1.0m to 1.2m 60 18.87%

1.2m to 1.4m 35 11.01%

1.4m to 1.6m 34 10.69%

1.6m to 1.8m 11 3.46%

1.8m + 53 16.67%

see results 43 13.52%

I expected much more so I'm disappointed. I'm sure it would have done much better if 343 didn't mess it up so badly.

Small XB1 Userbase+Not a man Halo title+It got a lot of bad reviews because of online, which might have scared some users away

Well 50% expected it to do more than 1.8million first week if you follow Small's link.

Well the game has legs and is digital very popular. I don't know what I expected hmm
