It had an excellent first week. It sold significantly more then Halo: Anniversary in its first week despite the XB1's tiny install base compared to the 360 when Halo: Anniversary came out. Infact it has the third highest opening week of any xb1 title. Only Destiny and Call of Duty: Advance Warfare have it beat. That is very impressive for a remake.
It was promised as more than just a remake of the campaigns which was what halo anniversary was. That's why its first week's sales were higher. It ended up for the most part only having playable campaigns which is why after its first week it dropped to halo anniversary level weekly sales.
