Maybe the people don't have understand... i don't say that other people have predict PS4>PS2 lifetime, even me, i never predict PS4 above PS2, i just say that it was a hope, and now, i don't hope... that is the sense of the thread.

I mean, this gen is supposed to last not much more than the 6th one, so for achieve such numbers, PS4 would need to sell 20m for 6 years straight and then more 30m for its last years

Not happening.

My really prediction was less...

I have predict by end of 2013 120-140 million, and by half of 2014 140-160 million, because PS4 was starting to sell like a monster!

the Playstation 2 had a good stream of games released for it for almost a decade or more.... (something like 1999-2010)

 

its delusional to think that the PS4 will have anywhere near that long lifetime. the only other system that comes to mind that did would be like the NES. it won't happen. The PS2 is an exception. the reason it sold so well for such a sustained period of time is the fact that it had other somewhat innovative technology connected to it (DVD player), and everyone needed a DVD player at the time

the PS4 does not provide the same universal need. all systems (generally speaking) sell well the first few years, but there is no way the PS4 user base keeps on pace with the PS2, and there is no way that its lifetime is anywhere near as long at the PS2's


The ps2 sold for over 10 years and the ps3 is in it's 10th year and still selling numbers. 

The PS3 was releaesed November 2006. That makes it almost two years away from it's 10th year.

Almost one year... it's tenth year starts in November 2015 if it was "born" in November 2006. You are "in your tenth year" beginning with your 9th birthday. ;)

PS2 have pass PS4 in USA this NPD.


LOL one Region.  I am not saying I think it will beat the PS2 (Infact I don't think it will), but this is FAR from over.



Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.
