Only about 5 people think it will.

I'm not even sure it will get to 100 million

With Japan being a non factor in the home console market this gen, I think it will struggle more than previous gen leaders in the long run. I think it could reach Wii or PS1 numbers, but not the PS2. But this also depends on when this gen will end.

You are aware Playstion 4 is still selling better than the Playstation 2 in the same timeframe ^^

the Playstation 2 had a good stream of games released for it for almost a decade or more.... (something like 1999-2010)

its delusional to think that the PS4 will have anywhere near that long lifetime. the only other system that comes to mind that did would be like the NES. it won't happen. The PS2 is an exception. the reason it sold so well for such a sustained period of time is the fact that it had other somewhat innovative technology connected to it (DVD player), and everyone needed a DVD player at the time

the PS4 does not provide the same universal need. all systems (generally speaking) sell well the first few years, but there is no way the PS4 user base keeps on pace with the PS2, and there is no way that its lifetime is anywhere near as long at the PS2's

The ps2 sold for over 10 years and the ps3 is in it's 10th year and still selling numbers.

I think most people had accepted this from the beginning, to be honest.

By the way, Japan is not as big a deal as people make it out to be. Even in the PS2 era it sold 20m in Japan, out of 160m worldwide...

No troll is too much for me to handle. I rehabilitate trolls, I train people. I am the Troll Whisperer.

I never thought it would pass the PS2, so none of my expectations have been broken yet.

I guess not.

But it is ahead by a good margin yet.

I am fine with 100million.

It sold little more than a Million in December last month in the US. Which is not bad and already more than 18.5million. So it is looking good. It depends how long it can last. Unlike others I think it will have good lifespan and great support. 2015 also I think will be better.

PS2 is a long way but it is doing great now and people said it barely got games in 2014

You really dont know how long the PS4 is gonna be in the market. Your prediction is way early. Especially with only 1 year of sales to go by.

Not saying it wont happen, but its premuture to jump into that conclusion.

I do think that Microsoft agressive pricing stole some people from buying PS4's. I still find it amazing how Nintendo and Sony just stood there and took it.

It would be very irresponsible for me to say that it can't pass the PS2 when it already has when aligned. The question you should be asking is if the PS2 can overtake the PS4 aligned sales? Are we saying that the generation wont be as long so even if it never falls behind the PS2, it will be discontinued before it can overtake its lifetime sales?
