That is kinda sad. The Xperia line is fantastic.

Hell I even think they would be better off selling the PlayStation brand to Samsung. Gaming is a volatile market and its too easy to post losses without the right business model.

Wow, could be the worst idea/post iv read on here.

That would be the worst thing possible for them long term, PS is their future.

Compared to their banking and insurance business? PlayStation would really need to pick up the pace.

But I get what you're getting at. Sony Executives are already debating whether or not PS5 will be a physical or Cloud based console. If they do go cloud based they will save tons of money and it would be nearly all profit without having physical media and second hand sales to hold them down. If PS Now on non Sony devices takes off I could see PlayStation 5 on everything from phones, tvs, tablets, to even PC and the other consoles. But a lot of ducks will have to line up for it to happen.

Those two are great but PS is their connection to their past of making hardware and awesome products.  That and the potential of it is insamly huge, PS on every device known to men.  The profits holy fuck they can become apple like.

Apple like? What?

Yeah, if Sony were Apple-like their mobile and TV divisions would be successful.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Too bad, because I really like their phones. I mean, it's not a clean Android experience but their phones are still pretty good.

No I'm so pumped for the Z4 to replace my Z1. They have such a subtle skin, top of the line specs and great features and inter-device compatibility with their other Sony products (PS4, Bravia TV's)

Would truly be a sad freaking day to see it go. I'd turn to Samsung for the waterproof feature but Touchwiz is.. meh.
So I may end up getting a Note 4 in a few months rather than a Z4. They better hold onto it for another Quarter, for completely selfish reasons may I add.

Well, they tried. But they were not able to establish a brand name that people like so much that they are willingly paying more for their products.

They definitely got better with the Z series but before not really. Xperia play anyone?

that's some deep shit, hopefully they will endure

People here are talking like it's already sold... It only says that they're "open for selling", not that they're looking for potential buyers or anything.

Maybe time for MS to expand on their mobile phone businesses?

i think sony would be stupid to sell it now as i think they are turning a corner somewhat. If they im[rove the mobile division some more MS would probably pay a shit load of money for it and if I was them I'd sell. Get something in the contract that PS Now and other PS apps must always be included.

But if they turn it around more I'd say Sony would try and hang onto it.

I hope they will be able to hang on to it and turn it around, and not sell. They make pretty fantastic cell phones so it would be a shame if they dropped it.

Sad news, Xperia Z phones are exceptional.
