Lol!!, on tooic: but seriously. I think if a lot of core Nintendo fans bought a ps or an Xbox they'd be pleasantly surprised with the new ip's they're shooting out.

At present, I don't see anything on PS4 or Xbone that makes me want to buy one.

Well that's why I said buy. A lot of games are better than they look when you play them. I loved sunset overdrive even though I didn't think id like it that much. And I can guarantee ps4 has games like that. And besides judging by your need to say xbone I don't think you'd by the xbox one anyways

Ltd predictions by the time 9th Gen comes out

Ps4:110million

Xbox one :75 million( was 65)

Wii u: 20 milliion

Actually I'm quite open to the idea of getting an Xbox One someday, it's just quicker to type Xbone haha.

And while I may not own them, I have friends who do, so I've dabbled in them a little. Still waiting on that killer app.

I believe Nintendo is to blame for the lack of third party, but I don't think the first party software is to blame.
1.) 3rd party exclusives are dying breed.
a.) Wii-U uses different architecture (That alone costs more money and time to port)
b.) Wii-U is significantly less powerful (Takes a lot more time and money planning to down-scale and reoptimize)
c.) The lack of install base

If Nintendo wants support from third parties, their console needs to be the easiest to port to, use the same architecture, have nearly equivalent or greater power, and be priced/promoted accordingly to gain market share.

Just think about it:

N64: cartridge limitations complicated porting, different architecture port problems, less profit per unit

Gamecube: DOL-006: storage limitations complicating ports. Though not as bad as the Cartridge format, ports still had to be compressed/retooled, Nintendo didn't actively approach third parties then, console flopped

Wii: Different architecture, basically a gamecube, significantly weaker, basically had to make a new game with all the changes to port

Wii-U: WUP-006 maximum storage of a single layered blu-ray (not really an issue at this time as it's 25GB max vs a 50GB max with rumors that their will be higher capacity versions on the way after a firmware upgrade), significantly weaker, basically had to make a new game with all the changes to , new architecture to learn, and lacked consumer appeal

I believe that nintendo is too out of touch with the gaming community to make quality new IP's and make money off of them.

yes, i think so too... they need to start making what all the others are doing, best CGI trailer money can buy, day 1 dlc, no bugsearch, crosspromo with snacks... like watchdogs, or destiny, such brilliant games. consumer love lies---

Didn't I mention quality new IP's? Dragon's Dogma or The Last of Us would sure as better examples of that. I didn't touch destiny so I wouldn't know anything about it except for other people's opinions on it. With Watch Dogs, I wasn't let down or anything, I had realistic expectations of it.

This is a strawman thread, you know.

What does this mean? (I'm seriously asking)

Meaning these nebulous "core Nintendo fans" are a strawman. You craft them to have the qualities you need for your argument to work, despite the actual core Nintendo fans in this thread who are refuting your points.

Yet still, you have created an amorphous strawman. A fine feat.

I doubt that anyone would own up for their part in who's to blame for nintendo's current state. It's not often that you see a nintendo fan asking for new IP's from nintendo.

well I spent over a $1000 last year between 3ds and WiiU, so I believe Nintendo is making a good job. They were only losing money because they were not able to release more games faster... Improve your input and you'll get more money Nintendo!!

TLDR: Nintendo fans won't allow Nintendo to create new IP's and ignore 3rd party on Nintendo consoles.

I've bought Darksiders II, Call of Duty: Ghosts, Assassin's Creed 3, Rayman Legends, Sonic Lost World, Art of Balance, and Toki Tori 1 and 2+, at least, for my Wii U, and I had plans to buy Watch_Dogs, would jump at a chance to buy a Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Sim City, Grand Theft Auto, Kingdom Hearts, Dynasty Warriors (after my experience with Hyrule Warriors), Half-Life, Tales... you get the idea. And I'm planning on getting Bayonetta 1&2, and am seriously considering Devil's Third (those two aren't strictly third party, but the point is still the same). On Wii, my collection was more than 2/3rds third party. I'm also a huge fan of Professor Layton, Phoenix Wright and Harvest Moon.

And I'm looking forward greatly to Splatoon. The only reason I haven't gotten Xenoblade Chronicles is that I couldn't afford it at the time and am now waiting for the New 3DS version, I've got NintendoLand and Pushmo World. I am greatly hoping for Nintendo to make a real FPS game, too (an true FPS game with the Nintendo difference would be wonderful). I also want them to make an MMO (Pokemon would be OK, but I'd be more than happy for it to be a new IP). I'm highly curious about the two "Project" games.

In other words, please don't generalise. I'm a Nintendo fan, and I want Nintendo to create new IPs, reuse old IPs (amazed there still isn't an Ice Climbers game), and most certainly want lots of third party titles (as in, in my game library, not just released on Wii U).

And despite repeated claims all the time by people, Nintendo does make new IPs. All the time. On the Wii alone, there was the Wii __ series, Excite Truck (despite the name, there was nothing in common with Excitebike), Endless Ocean, Captain Rainbow, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Takt of Magic, Flingsmash, Zangeki no Reginleiv, Xenoblade Chronicles, The Last Story, Pandora's Tower, Kiki Trick, MaBoShi, Bonsai Barber, Rock N Roll Climber, Eco Shooter: Plant 530, Snowpack Park, Fluidity, and Line Attack Heroes.

And while many of these didn't take off, it's because not every game has to. Wii ___ series, Excite Truck, Endless Ocean, and Xenoblade Chronicles are all new franchises (not just single games, now) coming from Wii alone (not including DS or 3DS during the Wii's life). Hype for Xenoblade Chronicles X was huge, even before it was confirmed to be getting the "Xenoblade Chronicles" name.

TLDR; Go and read it. It's not that long. Stop being so lazy and jumping to TLDR sections! (I quoted the TLDR for space purposes).

I doubt it's the fan's fault. They're not the ones building the console. It's the manufacturer's fault for chasing the smallest demographic..

time and time again people talk about the power of the system being the reason while GC was stronger than PS2 and equal to Xbox more or less and still it got less 3rd party games than those two.

blaming the fans is getting old as we don't eat up shit made by 3rd parties and people need to get that through their thick skull! Nintendo fans aren't like the other two who eat up just about anything before it is even released.

And where the hell have you heard that we don't want new IP? of course we do but we also want old IPs as well.

I love it when every now and then a guy likes to play expert on what Nintendo should do and has done wrong to end in it's situations starts babling. Give it a rest already the same shit has been spoken hundreds of times and you do it without considering how fans feel or that Nintendo is trying to be profitable.

I don't think thats the right generalization of Nintendo fans. You make them seem very pretentious.
