The TV industry is suffering from netflix, hulu, and people recording shows on their DVR. People just aren't watching TV live anymore. The X1 actually promotes live TV viewing, so I guess MS deserves the award.

As an "old school" gamer that's been playing since the Atari 2600 days, the fact that I no longer have to switch inputs on my TV to switch between my game system and television is an epic feature. This is next gen all the way. I can get game invites while I'm watching TV. Then throw in Kinect and I have full control over everything with my voice. "Xbox, on, Xbox, watch CNN, Xbox, pause"...let me see who's on..."Xbox, go to friends," I can see who's on, then immediately go back to TV.."Xbox, watch TV, Xbox, play, CNN starts back up. The Kinect has a programmable IR blaster that can be programed to pretty much anything. It controls my Sony television, my Comcast DVR box, and my Bose sound system. It truly is an amazing experience.

Its not sarcasm. The TV industry relies on advertising revenue. Advertising rates are based on the size of the audience watching a show live. Renewal and cancellation decisions are based on the size of the live audience + those that watch the show on their DVR within 3 days.

gamer and cord-cutter are practically the consumer,.. but congratz xbox on choosing to promote the establishment instead of giving gamers something they want; you truly deserve industry recognition.
