No idea what you are talking about. I did not even mention Xbone.

If you mean Wii U vs Xbone, Xbone is almost equal to PS4 and both are a lot stronger then the Wii U.  In RAM Wii U only allows 1gb for games which is 1/6 of Xbone and PS4.

But I am thinking that is not what you meant so I will not explain further.

XBOne is not almost equal to the PS4.... Unless 50% more power is "almost" but that is beside the point. Ram does not equal power.  2GBs of GDDR5 ram would DESTROY 8 GBs of DDR3 ram in gaming performance. I am not sure what type of ram the Wii U uses but do not compare rams like they are all the same. The DDR3 ram in the XBOne is garbage, it is the small super fast ram in the XBOne (and 360) that make them good for gaming.

Thread

Nintendo and Sony are both doing fine, Sony has made profits off of Playstation for a while and Nintendo is making profits as well. I do think the Wii U is overall a failed concept (a fun failed concept) but I do think they would have been much better off cutting the tablet and sticking to Wiimotes. I prefer the Pro Controller over the Wiipad and I think most people feel that way

Not the point. Xone is closer to PS4 then Wii U is to Xone. Much closer.

By burning money.

Despite the huge discrepancy in lifetime sales of hardware and software, the Wii U will have generated more profits for Nintendo than the PS3 for Sony.

PS3 burned most of its money before 2009, which is the year when Slim launched and the things turend around for the system, so they didnt save it by burning money, since most of it was alreadly burned by the time PS3 was saved.

They saved it by releasing a good amount of exclusvies after each year starting with UC2 while Nintendo and MS didnt do pretty much anything after 2010

Yes, the Sony "save" the PS3 because of the magic elfs. LOL Sony fanboy logic.

People the Xbone is dead. The fact that you morons ignore M$ using their infinite amount of money to buy their way to surpass Nintendo is sad. And what's even sadder is how you trolls are going around protecting M$ by saying, "Oh Nintendo release Smash Bros. for the 3DS which is why Smash Bros. Wii U *ignores M$ infinite amount of money*"

Don't get me wrong, I love M$ but they're a shitty company that has always been shit.

Yes but the PS3 is largely responsible for the ultra succesvol launch of the PS4 which is the only department in the company making profits. The WII U did not made any profits yet the 3ds did the fact that nintendo made a small profit is due to the 3ds not due to the WII U. Given the fact the PS4 sells good, and has 3rd party support comparable to the PS3 the PS5 will continue the trend of well selling Sony consoles.

Nintendo has already had 2 major flaws in the last 3 gens, the GC wasn't all that special and neither is the WII U in sales. So where a playstation console is guarenteed to sell a Nintendo console will be a surprise each gen. At the very end of it's lifetime the PS3 was eventully profitable even though if where the last 2 years, in fact ms has only lost money in the business and has done so this holiday. The Xone could pull off a PS3 and still comes close to the PS4, the Wii U is lucky to outsell the GC, but I don't see that happen.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Because  Nintendo tries to stay unique and deliver their special kind of games and not what the masses of idiots want. Also they´re making HUUUUGE profit thanks to the Wii U, how is that "Nintendo couldn´t do the same" again?

This comment lacks common sense and is insulting to MS and Nintyfans, off topic and feels almost like an I want to get permabanned type of comment.

Nintendo aren't making a huge profit though :p The last few years have been their worst since they first start reporting their earnings in 1981. They've posted a FY loss for 2011, 2012 and 2013 (though it appears they might post a profit for 2014, but a relatively small one).

That's not to say Sony are doing well, things have been rather grim for them for a while, but let's not pretend the WiiU has been anything other than a sales and financial failure for Nintendo. It's fortunate they have the 3DS to rely on.

(You can google "nintendo post 3rd annual loss" to find out more).

They didn't want to.

Really though. Sony took a big financial hit to right the PS3 ship. I'm not sure they made that money back during the PS3 era, although you could argue it help set them up for success with the PS4.

Nintendo is a fiscally conservative company, and they're pretty smart. They were able to make money during the Gamecube era, and they're back to profit now. If it's a choice between growing install base and making profit, they'll generally take the profit.

This!

Last quarter (3th quarter of 2014), Nintendo make biger profit then Sony entertainment division with all that millions of PS4 sales. And this is main reason why Wii U still dont have price cut, they pursuing profit with this price not biger install base.
