I knew we were all up the creek when Miyamoto was up on stage at E3, waggling the control around like he was trying to swat flies unsucsessfully.

Not all of us; I'm extremely happy with how Skyward Sword turned out.

Ok then. I knew the MAJORITY of internet gamers would be up the creek lol

If the opinion of the internet represented gamers as a whole, COD would sell like 3 copies. XD

But that's why I say "we" because I'm talking to and about the types of gamers who go on message boards lol

I enjoyed the story of Skyward Sword as well; Zelda herself was by far my favourite incarnation of her; very likeable and endearing. Ghirahim was a fun villain also. Plus, some scenes I won't spoil here genuinely moved me.

There are some genuinely good moments. People often criticize the slow tutorial, but from a story perspective it's pretty decent. And the segment after going through the gate of time is well done.

The problem is that those moments are few and far between. The pacing of this game is atrocious, and the plot is contrived and nonsensical. The characters are probably the one real bright spot, but they're all just cliches ripped straight from a cheesy anime.

The only pacing I found problematic was returning to fight the bloody Imprisoned twice in the space of about an hour. Other than that, I had fun virtually from start to finish.

Zelda plots are always nonsensical. As for anime characters, here's where the lack of voice acting is a good thing; they're much more likeable when you don't have to listen to those same four fuckers they have locked in a basement somewhere to do the VA for all anime...

twilight. princess. don't get the hate for skyward sword, that's the best zelda since wind waker and one of the most beautiful graphically.

i don't really play zelda for story... or, for that matter, any game. the gameplay mechanics and combat, the visuals and art direction, the dungeon/quest design, the sequencing, etc., are far more important. in fact, i appreciate how nintendo has managed to streamline the process of making one nonsense fantasy story after another.

Majora's Mask > Twilight Princess > Windwaker > Ocarina of Time > Skyward Sword

That's my exact order, dang!

I started with OoT and MM first, but I got and finished WW first, then finished OoT, then got and finished TP, then finished MM, then got and finished SS.

All of them got at least 9.0 for me except SS which I would give 8.5

I say Wind Waker. Albeit it wasn't bad at all (IMO the best combat system ever in a Zelda game), but to tell you the truth I remember VERY little about it. Funny because I remember OoT, MM, and SS A LOT more than WW. I never played TP but I can't wait to start it this year.

IMHO I enjoyed it's sequel Phantom Hourglass more than WW

I honestly have no idea what people hated about Skyward Sword so much. It starts off a bit slow, sure, but some of the levle design is by far the most robust of any Zelda game ever.

The worst of the bunch was Wind Waker, it definitely did not deserve a re-release on the Wii U - the level design was bland at best, and was far too easy to beat. It truly was an uninspired Zelda game.

I will go on record saying this - Wind Waker is to the Zelda series what Phantom Menace is to Star Wars.

to twilight princess fans (it seems there are some): why? i think in some ways, rather than the return to form that was advertised as after wind waker (which except for the visual style is a fairly traditional 3d zelda), it is the biggest departure from series conventions since possibly zelda 2, if not majora's mask, tonally otherwise (not in all the same ways as zelda 2, of course)... some of the character design is also downright atrocious, like low-rent anime.

In 10 years everyone will love Skyward Sword and hate the newest Zelda game. It is the circle of Zelda game life.

I had to say Majora's Mask. Because of the ever present time limit. I like to take my time and explore games. Same reason I didn't like Pandora's Tower.

8th gen predictions. (made early 2014)
PS4: 60-65m
WiiU: 30-35m
X1: 30-35m
3DS: 80-85m
PSV: 15-20m

I only disliked Twilight Princess, it was boring, especially the wolf parts.
