Even God Of War had cinematics and it released befoe Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Damn people on this site have completely forgotten about that game or choose to ignore it.

But does it have camera cinematics, and is it the total package of gaming?

Uncharted. Everybody wants a Nathan Drake in their game. Even Nolan North has said when he's auditioning for other roles, people will ask him to just do the Nathan Drake voice.

Out of those choices, Mario Galaxy hands down. And I agree with the poll, Halo is second.

Tho I would include the best Zelda there too.

I don't know if this is serious or sarcasm. If its serious, then GOW is very much a total package of a game ad yeah its camera cinematics.

Between the games in the poll I'd say Gears of War brought something different in term of gameplay. I hope to see a new IP this gen that does what Gears of War did when it came out.

Devil May Cry changed a bit the way we play action games, so I'd say we should stick with that, although Halo introduced the addictive online multiplayer to the mainstream audience.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

Uncharted is definitely the winner here. Games are starting to use narritive and look how many games have been taking bits and pieces from it. Seemless cinematic storylines with great gameplay are a pedigree seldom seen before Uncharted. Uncharted took everything we already had before it and combined it into a seemless package which is revolutionary.

Linear, narrative driven games existed on consoles long before Uncharted. And you can even look at Tomb Raider Anniversary in the same genre to see that the move to more linear, cinematic games began even before Uncharted came out. You might consider Uncharted to be the best series to latch onto this movement, but it didn't create that movement.

Not saying narritive driven and linear games have not existed (that would be implying that i'm saying its innovative...not revolutionary. Its not innovative at all.), but Uncharteds style has of camera cinematics putting them into games has been copied before by Sony and other companies. The standard that it set for the total package of gaming was revolutionary. The gameplay has been copied as well. Gears of War and Uncharted took the same ideas and ran with it in two opposite directions. The amount of games that have come out since the two of them because popular and immitating the two is higher in Uncharteds favor. Uncharted and Gears of War both learned from the great and lesser known TPS games of the past which were Winback and Killswitch for cover fire. They both also give credit to Resident Evil four for the over the shoulder shooting.

Uncharted as a whole package was an experience NO ONE was doing before it came out, which is why games like the Last of Us, Tomb Raider, Stars 1313, The Order, Assassins Creed V, all took queues in some respect from immersion to gameplay from cinematics. 343 Industries has even started to take note of the importance of cinematics in shaping a story.

Shadow of Mordor and batman arkham pushed the evelope that Assassins Creed revolutionized with open world.

Hyperbole galore. The "standard for the total package of gaming" was revolutionary? lol, ok.

Cinematics, dramatic camera angles... you really should try the couple of Tomb Raiders before Drake's Fortune :)

Like Tomb Raider Legend?

From your list, I think Halo CE.

I like how people are conveniently ignoring the second option in the poll as if it doesn't exist or it didn't inspire many games or vastly improve narrative in games. Its being treated as a third-rate exclusive, which very clearly PS fans in this site don't care about.

The only thing that game revolutionized was naked chicks on your PlayStation.

In terms of storytelling its a massive leap indeed and it has nearly flawless gameplay. But I can't think of a single way it changed anything in its genre. Yeah this may be Oscar level stuff for some but that wouldn't be due to it being revolutinary.

I've never played a game that so seemlessly melded Stealth, melee and gunplay ... ever. At any given point you could decide which way you wanted to play and there was absolutely no problem at all. Nothing felt out of place and nothing felt weaker. Stealth, gunplay and melee were given equal billing and not one of them was compromised by the other. Layer on top of that the realism of the characters and the emotions attached to them and you have 'genuine' connections to the gameplay through empathy. It is something I've been waiting for since I first picked up a controller. For the first time ever we had an enemy that made sense from a biological perspective: The infected. Not even films have done that very well except perhaps 28 days later or recently Planet of the Apes. It's about presenting an alternate reality that 'could theoretically be possible'.  What ND have created here is another monster along the lines of werewolves or vampires; something that could seep into culture and become part of cutural myth. It's not easy to do that. Clive Barker had a good stab at it with the Cenobites but never quite made it.

Metal Gear Solid 3 didn't blend Stealth, Gunplay, and Melee for you?
