I don't think anyone wants Nintendo to fail, or thinks it would be a good thing. Nintendo going third party, and Nintendo dying are two VERY different things.

This, i like some of their games but not enough to buy their hardware anymore.  After SNES it was all down hill.

It's very tricky about this: Nintendo carefully tailors the HW it designs to the most common gameplays and to special gameplays it intends to introduce as innovations and/or unique features, so on PC and home consoles they could enjoy a huge audience and they could recommend too the best controllers their games were developed for. Portables are different, you can't change their input peripherals and afterthoughts like 3DS 2nd stick are usually failures. Tablets are even worse, they're fine for very casual games and some arcade racers with drive heavily assisted, but they suck at more complex games and more in general at those with gameplay that benefits from the tactile feedback and the precision of interfaces like sticks and buttons.

Sorry, but I am tired of this BS "Nintendo tailors their consoles to their games" BS.  The best and games on the Wii U are MK8 and Smash, and guess what?  Neither use the  tablet for jack sh*t.  In fact they are selling a peripheral that let's you use a GAMECUBE controller.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

[Prediction Made 6/18/2014]

Sorry, I forgot to write that not always it works as they planned, predicted and hoped.

But they often try, and while, as I wrote, on home consoles and PCs the user could make up for their HW choosing his favoured input devices, on portables this wouldn't be possible and on tablets the whole gaming dedicated controls would be missing and this would damage Ninty games.

Nintendo going 3rd Party would still be a huge blow to the Industry... You guys never know what you have until it's gone.

More competition Console wise = more quality consoles will have to appeal to the masses... PERIOD!

False. When you're starving to death because bees are extinct, we'll see if you say the same.

all the talk was about corn and corn pesticides, the problem is, corn is Anemophily (air, not bees). and the way the pesticides are used in europe cant have an effect on bees. maybe the EU should look into actual studys... http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007%2Fs13592-011-0016-x

Unscientific, corporate funded garbage, that is.

From what I heard is that Sony has more of a chance of dying than nintendo. Nintendo is the mother of all. Nintendo is the best :)

Anyone who wishes for the death of any company is just pathetic.

Never a truer word has been spoken.

But yet the Nintendo chants to burn are strong everywhere you look...

We don't want Nintendo to burn, But expect them to match industry standard.

Microsoft had set the bar for online infrastructure and Sony for consoles graphical and ease of development in PS4, Nintendo can innovate but at the same time must seek to meet similar standard as the competition.

Nintendo current problem are self imposed and should have learn from their mistake.

Take for example Nintendo poor use of brand name.... Most North American thought the name Wii was ridiculous but Nintendo insist on keeping the name for their next gen console.  The success of the Wii was never related to the brand name but rather the innovative remote interface. Nintendo clearly has failed to recognize this problem and decided on using WiiU for their next gen console this name as create much confusion with customer. Many customers though the WiiU was simply a table controller add-on for the Wii. Same with Nintendo 3DS. When the Nintendo 3DS came out Nintendo was still selling Nintendo DS Lite, Nintendo DS Lite XL, Nintendo DSi & Nintendo DSi XL. Now we have Nintendo 2DS, 3ds(XL) and new 3ds (XL).

Many 3rd party developper have complaint about the Nintendo WiiU infrastruture, the limitation, the difficulty to develop games on the system. Nintendo has manage to lose the entire 3rd party support they don't even bother to bring cheap port to the console. When The WiiU first release Nintendo was gloating about the amazing 3rd party support at launch. Nintendo console are simply not design to be 3rd party friendly and its a big issue. Especially when there a software drought by Nintendo and Nintendo cant sell any hardware.

Nintendo simply doens't seem to learn from past mistake.
