Only fanboys or horrible individuals want companies to die or bad things to happen to them. I wouldn't miss Nintendo if they exited the market personally, but them going third party is for their own good, even if they don't get it at the moment.

And what research did you do to come to that conclusion? Anything to back up your claim?

Apparently,he didn't!If he had done a research he would know how terrible is the move that he suggests!

It not about arrogance. Sony's games are bought by the hardcore, those aren't crazy about mobile gaming, they often complain the PS4 isn't powerful enough for example! Nitendo's IP's however are much more appealing to the crowd playing on mobile devices, just watch their presence in Japan and notice how crazy Japan is about mobile gaming. Also Sony earns much more from sales of third party developers on their consoles, while Nintendo mostly sells their own software making the need for an inhouse platform much smaller.

What? If you sell a lot of your own software, then being able to keep all the profits to yourself is very desirable.

Completely right!I have said this four times in other threads, since yesterday!I don't understand why some don't think that!Selling your own software to your own hardware is a great advantage, you don't have to share the money!

As I have written before,if for instance nintendo goes mobile it will need to sell 760m apps at 5$ on app store yearly to match the money it gets from hardware and apple gets the 30% of the money that the apps are making!Nintendo makes more money than activision, ubisoft etc because it has hardware and also sells its software on its own hardware...

I'm talking about people who have no intentions of playing nintendo games. Most gamers don't so it won't affect them. It would be a massive shame for the millions who do play nintendo I'm not denying that.

No I will stick with most. The majority are on pc, ps4 and Xbox.  even ps4 isn't a majority when you add all platforms against it. Ps. No dechiphering needed for my post!

So 3DS and  generally the handheld kingdom of nintendo doesn't count for you?

Handhelds are utterly irrelevant to me.  But the ninty market is currently 59million with both consoles combined.  In this industry that is a minority not a majority.  Hence why I say most will carry on as normal.  I can't make it any clearer and have nothing else to add.

Nintendo dead would probably fatally wound the Japanese gaming industry, they would survive but mainly retreat to mobile gaming and the occasional PC game either based off popular franchises or visual novel/anime/manga tropes. People think that Nintendo failing would force them to go third party, but it would mainly force them to retreat back to Japan and if truely dead, sell off their properties and lay off employees. The IPs and the employees may go else where but no telling if in their new landing spots they will be able to recreate Nintendo style gaming in a situation where they could succeed. Other Japanese publishers seeing the giant fall will only get more conservative and aim towards the elusive Western gamers or the mobile gamers.

The Western industry would continue onwards towards the current trend of being a shadow of the PC gaming industry and within 5-10 years, all gaming would be done via Steam or a Steam like service, with the few bright spots being indie development that would try to recapture the glory years of gaming with their own ideas based on games of the console industry's past. The rise of development costs will ultimately cripple all but a handful of publishers who will stick to certain genres with few to no experimental titles.

Edit: This is all speculation but based off how the industry has progressed, it is highly likely to come to pass.

I don't want Nintendo to die. I want them to turn into a development ONLY studio.

All you hardcore nintendo fans that praise them as innovative are completely wrong. In my opinion, the last good nintendo console was the SNES. When they refused to keep up with the times and switch to disks, they sealed their fate with the N64. Then the next 3 consoles were slightly cheaper than their competition-- but drastically underpowered hardware.

This last holiday season shows how Nintendo somehow thinks of themselves a the apple of gaming --- selling an overpriced product, aiming for profit per unit rather than quantity. I honestly considered purchasing the WiiU due to Nintendo's aim at family and kids games... but I cannot justify paying $300 for a device that has maybe 3 games that i would want to buy, and often cannot even run ports from the last generation properly.

My gaming dream is that the Xbox dies in flames, and Microsoft returns to PC / a gaming service; and that Sony and Nintendo also turn into gaming services. I absolutely LOATHE MS for their anti cross platform play stance, but I still want to be able to play "xbox exclusives" (PC also) with my friends without being forced into their hardware. Likewise, I want to be able to play sony and nintendo software on my personal choice of a machine.

PS: I mostly play consoles, but I'd prefer a gaming universe that all games play on all devices, with your choice of device -- IE a steam box only... or similiar future.
