To start off some LTD's as of November

3DS: 13.33m
PS4: 5.62m
XB1: 4.9m

3DS:
Reasons for: It has a huge lead of around 8m units
Reasons against: It's past its best in the US (sales are dropping YOY)

PS4:
Reasons for: It sold well all year round.
Reasons against: Currently, XB1 has momentum. Whether this remains is to be seen.

XB1:
Reasons for: Has clawed back some of the lead, has shown it can sell very well in the states.
Reasons against: PS4 can easily take back the lead


In terms of 3DS, whilst it is only 6m (after December) away from 20m, it has also only sold 2.5m - 3m this year in the US. Also like I said before, its best sales are behind it (no, new 3DS is NOT going to revive sales.) Its peak year was its FIRST year and even that was barely above 4m. If sales taper off even more this year it may not even potentially hit 20m.

PS4 Vs XB1 is really anyones guess and depends entirely on what MS and Sony do. They're almost neck and neck and are both popular in the states. Even selling the average 5m a year tho we're talking mid 2017 for both.

Xbox One does not have momentum.

It had a temporary fire sale where all benefits have been reverted. Even with all the amazing deals, the PS4 still sold more units world wide.  Anyone who things the Xbox One has momentum is lying to themself.

Next holiday expect Sony to have a gameplan that counters any Xbox One firesale.

Tough choice. All 3 could be the first.

I'm gonna go with the PS4 because I'm leaning towards 3DS never getting to 20 Million, and while I think XBone will continue to win every Holiday, the other months will remain in PS4's favor

alas you're wrong. It wasn't a fire sale and it showed amazing enthusiasm for Xbox One. Also until we see January NPD we can't say that it's gone back exactly like before, PS4 may (and imo will) win but it may not be as much as before. They're now equal in price and XB1 has a better image, that is far better than its position against PS4 this time last year.

hhhmmm...I'm betting PS4. The 3DS has seen a rather sharp decline in sales and the Xbox One is going to have a really hard time being competitive outside of the holidays.

Not really, depends on what Microsoft do. Their exclusives tend to be favoured by US audiences more than Sony's.

It was a fire sale.  It showed parents buy the cheaper unit that comes with a lot more for the money duing the holidays.  Just look at Amazon and the rest, PS4 is back to being on top all of January.  That momentum.

You clearly don't know what a fire sale is. You didn't read my post either. Also, XB1 is out of stock by Amazon, it's only third party's selling it (which means it will drop). The fact it is still in the top 20 despite that. This time last year PS4 was #1 and XB1 wasn't even in the top #100 to my knowledge

But when is the next major Xbox exclusive out? In 2014 the Xbox One had arguably the stronger exclusive lineup and they ended up behind the PS4 for the year. The only reason it was even as close as it ended up being in 2014 was because of how much more agressive MS was with their deals during the holidays. I don't think that situation will repeat itself in 2015.
