Forums - Gaming - PS4 or Xbox One in 2015?

What is the more appealing system for 2015?

PS4 444 80.00%

Xbox One 80 14.41%

Ouya 30 5.41%

Total:554

Xbox One for me because of Quantum Break, Tomb Raider and Halo Guardians and games that could come out like Scalebound, Crackdown, Forza 6 and Phantom Dust. Xbox One still has the wonder of not knowing whats coming while PS4 has showed everything.

Other then Bloodborne and Uncharted that's it for PS4. The Order will be another Driveclub.

No games really call out to me for both consoles, but Xbone will definitely have more ON time. Playing games is so last gen.

Impossible. The Order does not have an online component.

MS is behind, they will do more for the customers than Sony. Just like they did in 2014. Only ps4 game confirmed I REALLY want to play is Uncharted 4 and I will probably get a ps4 when that game comes out. But I still have Rise of the Tomb Raider for XBO late this year and that game will be epic.

Not true at all. Sony always starts off slow. Pay attention to how last gen started and ended. Sony is off to a better start this gen than they were last gen in first party and second party development. Microsoft is doing the exact same thing they did last gen which is petition third party for exclusives to pad out their ranks with newly comissioned IP's and timed exclusives. Sony has also reclaimed their spot in first place which puts them in a dominant positiion. When Sony does well not even Microsoft is a match for them. MS is breaking their own records now and it isn't even holding a candle to what Sony has done.

The only thing that has really changed is Sony's needs to recoup so they are making less AAA titles and investing in more indie experiences which MS was once accustomed to before they forced the indie devs away with their policies. Its not that Sony doesn't want to give their gamers more, its that Microsoft cannot outdevelop them so they have to pay everyone around them until the third party allowances thin out because they need the maximize profits with multiplatform titles. This is why it seemed like Microsoft had a drought of games after their fourth year came up and Sony started gaining on them.

Shane kim was the head of the Xbox division at the beginning of last gen and he had the same mentality as Phil Spencer, hence the wealth of third party exclusives that Microsoft had back then.

Not talking about last gen.  Talking about this gen.  MS slowed down last gen because they were where they wanted to be at.  Right now they are not.  Xbox One monthly updates are solid EVERY single month.  I don't see Sony doing much other than PSN, shareplay and soon to be Project Morpheus.  Three things I don't care about.

Xbox Live came into its own during the 360 era and was much more slow to realize itself. Thats totally different. NXE (New Xbox Experience) was when Xbox Live realized its potential, introducing the avatars and new Dashboard features. We're talking about games. Microsoft is not known for being great at developing new IP's that become widely popular. They are known for commissioning third party, buying timed exclusives and  paying for DLC and that larger chunk of the time. Sony builds its library slowly overtime, but internally develops more ips (and more successful ones) than Microsoft en masse (Same goes for Nintendo but even moreso). Microsoft focuses on a few core titles because it minimizes the risk of internal failure. Its how they beat Sony to the punch in the 360 era and and kept the third party from them and its how they appeared to have the better launch with Titanfall, Dead Rising 3 and Ryse. As I said...Phil Spencer and Shane Kim did not have a philosophy that was opposed. It was about beating the competition with quality games no matter where they came from. Once Shane Kim was no longer the head of Xbox the games no longer were at the forefront, but now they are again.....thanks to Spencer.Therin was the major difference between last gen and third gen, with the head start Microsoft could show off those acquired third party services without competition and have a healthy dose of multiplats to boot. This gen...it didn't work out that way and their competition didnt screw up either, which hurts the morale even more.

Without third party IP's The Xbox brand would be nothing (I could say the same for Sony, but their first party fleet is much broader). Halo once was until Microsoft bought Bungie, Gears of War was, All of Rares titles were.

Sony can afford to drop Uncharted....Microsoft cannot. Major difference...creatively rich vs the creatively bankrupt, so you supplement it the only way you know how.

They trust third party to develop more than they do their own developers. They know the quality their competitors bring so they know what they have to do to be on par.

Tell me...have you seen a new IP from Microsoft on par with the competition outside of Forza? Exactly, so just like last gen lets just enjoy the games Microsoft commissions.

My overall point is the conditions change and the company adapts to that change. The question is who read the writing on the wall marketwise better? Nintendo changes their outlook in hindsight because they can, but they don't change their overall philosophy on how they deal with outsiders. Sony works with the format climate making it easier for their market to sell their CD's, DVD's and Blu Ray for two decades now. Microsoft only truthfully reacts to loss, but even with loss its not very different from last gen outside of the change of position and launch time. The only difference on Sonys end  is that Sony is more competitive at the start than last gen because there was no head start.

Regardless.....bring on the exclusvies. Mark my words....Microsoft cannot outdevelop Sony internally....but they can outspend them and it will happen) as you can very well) until the third party developers want to maximize profits by going multiplat . Either way I win because I have both consoles and if you do too..then so do you.

As I said before, Microsoft spreads the wallet further to third parties, hence why I tend to game on the Xbox more earlier in the gen, much like last gen, but due to Sony's competitiveness with the Order, Bloodborne and Uncharted this year...its should be more of an equal usage in 2015. Its going to be a competitive year (and generation compared to the last)  so as I told the guys before, the more equal they are the better it is for us. Enjoy.

Maybe the Driveclub part is meant as a compliment after all Driveclub has been getting a ton of positive feedback in the last couple weeks after mediocre initial impressions.

Scalebound is the only exclusive on either list that really interests me, mostly because I love Platinum's other games. Maaaybe Quantum Break depending on how it turns out.

The rest, ehhh. Nothing in there even comes close to exciting me as much as Xenoblade.
