Forums - Gaming - Introducing Playstation now subscription

Much better deal than the ridiculous prices they were charging for some one-game rentals during the trial. I'm not a fan of streaming and both my PS3's still are connected to my TV along with the PS4 and I still have over 40 treasured(ok some were not so great) PS3 games. Long live physical media!! Joking, it does seem streaming/digital media is the way of the future, PS Now seems great for PS4 owners who missed out on the PS3 and don't want to pay hundreds for the physical console in addition to games.

while PS4 is the first system for this I think Sony mainly wants to target people who don't own any PS console and want to play some sophisticated games on their phones/tablets/TVs

Definitely. I can see this moving to the Xperia line, tablets, Vita etc(if it hasn't been announced already? I haven't been paying attention to PS Now lately). I remember reading tha Samsung TVs were going to support this?

Nice idea for those interested, but at this stage i'm pretty swamped with subscriptions. Between paying for internet, PS+ and Netflix I can't really justify the money or time on another subscription service.

I think the subscription prices are a bit high, but that might just be me. However, in terms of value, they offer much, much better value than renting-per-title.

The game selection isn't bad. It's the pricing that's a bit off. However, it wouldn't be wise from them to give 3 months at only $9.99. No one here would leave this service that cheap considering the expenses involved and the 100+ games included. Still, for a starting service, the 1 month fee sounds good.

This is more in line what I would wish for and should be an added service along renting. This makes it more viable because you get the entire library of games in one subscription.

EDIT: They should probably also have an offer where PS+ is included in the monthly subscription. That would make it easier for PS+ owner to start using it aswell.

Brilliant!

This is obviously not for everyone but you can't deny it sounds like great value for money. Of course if you only have a few spare hours to play games each week then its not worth it, or if you only play 50hour long RPGs but nor would any other realistically priced rental service.

For those interesting in a rental service this is a dream. Not only could you easily get your money back through playing through 2/4 mid length games per month, you don't have to commit to any one title and test our so many others in the process. There are so many games I'd never put money down on but would love to try for more then just 20mins (ala your typical demo).

The only catch now is the quality of games of the list and how they grow with time. Once they start getting PS2/PS1 games on there it'll be even greater.

Also for a standalone month where you have no games to play, it'll be good just to splash out on $19 and have 100plus at the tip of your fingers.

I think Sony is scared

They are overestimating how much games people will actually play. They dont want to price it too low because they think people are gonna be streaming games 24/7 witch will cost them more $$$ then the subscription money they get but i dont think thats the case at all.

How many movies on Netflix do people watch per month? like 5? a game could take 10-20+ hrs to complete like possibly a week or 2 for 1 game

Of course none of this matters to me because i still have my ps3 with over 140 physical games (still got my ps2 too)

Sounds alright but I'm missing the short term options. Would be fun to have a one day option.
