Forums - Sales - Analyst says X1 will equal PS4 in 2015 and have same userbase longterm

Um... lol

No way this happens, unless he has gotten an inside tip that MS will release a $299 slim Xbox this year and the PS4 won't lower the price until next year.

Won bet with t3mporary_126 - I correctly predicted that the Wii U's LTD at the end of 2014 would be closer to 9 million than 10 million. http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/post.php?id=6673287

@Welfare... I bet there are "insiders" ready to make this claim.

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Not going to happen, definitely not with the price of XB1 going back to normal.
Been only a week since price cut ended and XBO already dropped 20 spots on the Amazon chart.

All signs point to XBO failing to capitalize on its holiday momentum and I"m betting January goes to the PS4 in the US.

Assuming PS4 sales stay about the same in 2015 as in 2014 and XBO sales double, that would put both consoles at about equal sales for the year......but that would still leave PS4 with a 7-8 million lead in sales lifetime. There is however no indication whatsoever that XBO will somehow double its sales from 2014 or that PS4 will fail to see an increase in sales. Long term? Who knows what could happen. Short term? Let's be realistic. PS4 has this gen in the bag.

Those XB1 holiday promotions were absolutely massive. People need to really look at the data and realize that XBOs "comeback" is temporary and almost entirely due to its price advantage. Who knows what Microsofts is thinking right now but I'm sure they AT LEAST have another big holiday push for 2015. It won't be enough to match PS4 sales WW though. Not even close. Microsoft needs to think about more than just the holidays.

Ok it's Pachter ... lol

LOL this guys is about as clueless as they come. Even if you're just talking about the US, PS4's been selling even better, even in the US, well over a million lead, more exclusives are landing in 2015, with nothing in the way of real competition for months. The snowballing of exclusive library building up. Better performing multiplats. PS4 has the better hardware, which isn't changing, that's a fixed factor. Sony are yet to announce an official price cut, so that will likely come this year.

Everything points to PS4 not only maintaining it's market dominance globally, but gaining more in not only markets where Playstation is usually dominant, but also in the US and UK.
With the China launch happening sometime soon Sony will no doubt dominate there too.

Unless Microsoft announces that XB1 will be reduced to a standard price point well below PS4, Microsoft some how having more exclusives landing than PS4 does this year (if that was the case MS would have announced them already) and XB1 somehow started running multiplats better and Microsoft changed the image of the XB1 to appeal more to the masses, XB1 isn't dominating anything this year.

XB1 would need to sell far better each week than PS4, in the US that's not happening, globally it's impossible.

I don't even thing toastboy would agree with this.

Recently, well known industry analyst Michael Pachter stated that PlayStation 4 will continue its lead over Xbox One in 2015 all thanks to "Phenomenal Exclusive Line-Up" and Microsoft will announce another (second) price cut for Xbox One (considering the fact that Xbox One will start selling at $399 price point after Jan 2). There is another analyst (Independent) who thinks this is not going to be the case, and he is "Billy Pidgeon".

In a recent interview to GameIndustryBiz, Billy Pidgeon stated that Sony will not maintain PlayStation 4's out of the gate lead this console cycle. In 2015, Xbox One's installed will be equal to PlayStation 4's and in the long run, both consoles will be evenly matched, neither Sony nor Microsoft will dominate.

Here are the exact words of Billy Pidgeon on PS4 vs Xbox One Battle In 2015:

I have my suspicions he based his analysis in some vgc prediction threads... Because when even Patcher drops this expectations it requires a lot of hope to see X1 priced back to 400 equals PS4 WW... unless his global is also limited to USA and he expected the price to stay 350.

I could be wrong, but I'm guessing these guys are talking about US sales only.

if he is talking about worldwide sales then......

How do you guys at vgchartz sometimes put it globally in the US or something. The gen is still young so I don't rule out anything but this staments seems highly unlikely.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

lol no
