Forums - Microsoft - Xbox One back at $399

Can't way I understand this move. The only way they're going to beat the PS4 in the US is with a price advantage. Why go back to parity?

And no, don't bring up the profit argument. Profit margins are not very high on Microsoft's list of priorities with the Xbox division.

Xbox isn't in the list of priorities of MS at all as said by Nadella.

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

Just when you thought Microsoft had learned.

*Isran voice* I knew it would come to this one day. I knew, and no one believed.

Gonna drop like a rock in January :| Hell, seeing what games are coming to both on a global scale, I would say the PS4 will rape the Xone every month until E3 or a serious price cut.

Should have kept the 350$ pricetag IMO :|

Microsoft was clear that only Holiday sales matter, so for them no problem to raise the price and reserve the sales for that period. Will have a lot of accumulated demand.

Guess this means that a lot of people who suddenly loved Amazon best sellers list from November on, will go back to not caring about them like the 10 months prior..

Genius.

They cant be losing money especially for the next 6 months there is not going to be good software sales to offset this loss for XB1 as holiday is over so sales will be slow and because there are no 1st party exclusives from them and many 3rd party games sell better on PS4 along with its exclusives coming up from next month.

Come on - Microsoft can not loose money? Since when?

The last time I checked it was Sony who had "junk" status...

It will surely just be temporary though. I can't see them keeping it at that price much longer.

So you want MS to keep lose tons of money...

Well I'm not an investor, I don't really care about that. I'm a gamer and bigger install base means it's more likely to get more games. So yeah I'd prefer consoles sold to money earned.

Ok don't worry,ms will make a cheaper revision! This is almost certain...

Yep... the only reason I don't want Sony to sell the consoles for a too great loss is because that could divert money from developing games... but yes... as gamers if a company take a billion loss to double or triple the fanbase and that translates to more games we don't need to care.
