They would be pulling a sega. Nintendo is known for making their consoles last six years.

Like many others already have pointed out, this could be Nintendos QoL device. A new HH console COULD launch in 2016, and their next home console could launch in 2017, but that could be quite risky. The PS5/nextbox will probably launch 2018/19, which might mean Nintendo launched TWO years before the competition. That's NOT good, unless it sells like crazy, and thus forcing sony/MS to launch earlier than they wanted.
Depending on when sony/MS launch their next home consoles (if they do at all) Nintendo could be either the ONLY 9th gen console maker (if Ps5/nextbox lanuches in 2020-22) or they'd be an early entry in the 9th gen
I'm on Twitter @DanneSandin!
Furthermore, I think VGChartz should add a "Like"-button.
Going by past years' experience, N64 launched in 96, GC in 2001, Wii in 2006, Wii U in 2012, Nintendo won't launch another system until at least 2017.
That'd be far enough for it to be next-gen, IMO.

Black friday 2017.
Gen 9.
The end.
If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing
(mostly)
And shepherds we shall be,
For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints
It seems pretty silly to see gamers arguing so much about marketing buzzwords like next gen. Executives somewhere are high fiving.
The current generations of consoles (PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, 3DS, PSVita) belong in the 8th gen. The next one would in be the 9th, regardless of whats inside it.
Anyway, my guess is that Nintendo's hardware release is a portable. I mean its alreadly approaching nearly five years since the 3DS was announced.. Its about the right time for them to release another one.
2016 is too early, that would be a stupid move! The logical is the next home console come in late 2017,i.e after 5 years and who knows maybe even 6.(n64->gc->wii->/wii u,1996->2001->2006->/2012)!
Lastly, the amd product is for the Nintendo HDS or what ever the name will be!
To your question, yeah whereas is a successor to wii u which is a 8th gen console, automatically means that would be considered a 9th gen even if it would release so prematurely..
| CrazyGPU said: Nintendo launched Wii U in end 2012. Sony and Microsoft launched 8 gen in end 2013. If Nintendo lauches a new console in 2016 and Sony and Microsoft launch Next Gen in 2020. I mean one can consider a 2016 Nintendo console a very early 9 gen lauch or a second very late 8th gen console, right? Would you consider the 2016 Nintendo console an 8th gen console or 9th? edit: what if they lauch in 2016 and another in 2021 to counterpart a 2020 ps5 and xbox 2 lauch? Then most people would say that Nintendo lauched a 10th gen one year after the competition lauched the nineth? Weird. |
Has nothing to do with other console manufacturers, has to do with it's successor. The Wii U is 8th gen so thenext will be9.
If your parents have kids at 20 and you do as well, your kids are third generation from your parents. If your friends parents have kids at 45 and so do they, their children are third generation from their grand parents. It has nothing to do with length of time, it has to do with generations of the family.
Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.
Again and again - the new 2016 console come from
AMD x86: FACEBOOK !!
AMD ARM: Amazon !!
Facebook needs something TRUE NEXT-GEN to drive their OCULUS RIFT. There are no mass market priced PCs which can and most people neither will spend that much nor have good feelings about PCs.
The new AMD x86 design will run circles around PS4 and XOne. At least Microsoft doesn't need to care as they will make sure that "Game Windows" will run on it...
