I think MS made a huge mistake dropping the price at Christmas. Now they're stuck with losing on every consoles sold and losing market share too. Where do they go from here? The only option is losing even more profit. Meanwhile Sony are sat on a price cut and waiting for the perfect opportunity to use it.

Xbox now 24 and and PS4 9.

And that's without The Order and Bloodborne.

I wonder what microsoft can do, official price cut at $300 ? Ms wouldnt allow that i think.

m$ need a new bundle. A Halo:MCC one for $349 would be good

With The Order and Bloodborne being released a month apart, I doubt even $300 would make much of a difference.

Microsoft didn't do them a favor
They just frontloaded sales of 2015 to November/December 2014 and with bringing the price back down to 350$ shortly after the holiday deals ended they damaged their brand.
People are afraid and don't know when to buy cause as it looks like they change the price all the time.Microsoft at the same time has soon no where to go.
350$ "promotion" now...probably 300$ official at E3 or sooner if the PS4 gains to much again on them in the USA.
Where to go for the holidays?150+games?If they wanted to achieve that people wait for a price where it doesn't matter if the console is 2 weeks later available for less then they did that.

Could you remove the less than altruistic portion of your post please. We do not need this sort of thing here. Alluding to it is fine but putting a user out to dry like that is not.

Sony really played there hand well this generation. Everything they have done has been perfect and has workout for them. They have had some hiccups with their first party titles but even X1 has had an issue with that.

I don't know what the X1 is going to do at this point. I think they pretty much just have to lets things play out and hope for the best. Taking more losses would help but with RAM prices going up for the X1 and down for the PS4 it's just going to be to easy for Sony right now.
