Forums - Sony Discussion - Okay. I admit it. The Last of Us is F'n Graeat.

This was interesting. You're right about the ai/enemy thing but the game is specifically made to only react to the main player in stealth mode. I bet my life the game would've been criticised in reviews if the enemies reacted to the other players. The game would be unbeatable if the enemies reacted to them. Usually everybody complains about the other characters in games and escort mission type people. I heard it's the best in The Last Of Us lol. also, it only happens in in stealth mode so if you some how alerted the enemies then it all goes out the window and they can react with each other

About the gameplay.. What is your definition of gameplay. I've heard some specific people claim the gameplay is lacking or whatever but how? That gameplay is smooth as hell and i played it on PS3. People say that Resident Evil 4 had some of the best gameplay but RE4 was clunky as shit.

The Evil Within is supposed to be like the new Resident Evil, right? The Evil Withins gameplay is just like The Last Of Us but not as Smooth. I noticed that IMMEDIATELY when i played The Evil Within. Why would they make The Evil Eithin play like The Last Of Us instead of RE4 if RE4 had the better gameplay?

Wth is the real definition of gameplay because i just cannot understand how The Last Of 's gameplay is so horrible. The gameplay is perfect to me. Joel moves around perfectly in his world

Well, nothing is 'horrible' about it, or bad even, if my post conveyed that then it wasn't my meaning. Everything technically works like a charm indeed, I've encountered no technical problems or awkward situations where I thought "What on Earth is he doing". You can tell Naughty Dog did put their usual quality assurance to work here.

It's probably more about the variety to me though. Up to the point I played it at least (after escaping the city), every level has basically been the same. The same tasks need to be done, with the same ways of completing them. There's little, creativity, if that's the best word to use, compared to say, Uncharted.

I'm afraid I can't provide 'real definition of gameplay' that makes everything air-tight, it's a feeling that's a bit, off .

Someday when the PS4 is added to the stack of game systems I might play this game. I have avoided it on PS3 at first because it sounded like a game to be played as close to all at once as possible. I never get that much time in large chunks to play games. I usually only play 30-90 minutes at a time max.

But, based on the feedback, I will surely try this out on PS4 someday.

It is near the end of the end....

I let a friend borrow it and he lost it...now all I have is an empty case that I just stare at whenever I'm thinking of a game to play. When I get my ps4 (hopefully next week) I'll be getting this game with it.

Perfect, then your friend can buy the PS4 version for you and you give him his empty PS3-case.

I was hooked from the intro chapter and it never let go. I admit Winter is my favorite section, but I cannot imagine getting bored at any point. Only section I didn't love was sniper bit, but as much my fault as the games.

Awesome news, though I don't like The Last of Us as much as Uncharted. :)

The multiplayer is where the perfect gameplay of TLOU shines.

It is fucking amazing and innovative.

yeah i gotta agree with both of you, (with the exception of the gameplay being innovative, it was awesome though!)

Here are some reasons why i find the gameplay in TLOU to be just GREAT:

- The aiming in the game is great, it has a very "heavy" feel to it, shooting every weapon feels good, and the weapon sway mechanic is there to increase that feel of "making every bullet count", (because you may have a full clip but once a clicker or an infected gets up close it can be hard to shoot them if you havent upgraded youre weapon sway), aiming in the game is great as well, joel moves very fluidly and sure he tends to move "kind" of slowly but that is there to compliment the grounded feel of the game, PLUS joel is a 40+ year old man so it also feels fitting that hes not the fastest "gunslinger", plus the gore not only makes the weapons in the game feel more deadly but they also help the dark theme of the game.

side note: Blasting of clickers up front with a shootgun and watching them fly back with all their dismemberd body parts is GREAT, (TLOU shootgun is my favorite shootgun in a game)

- You have actually two ways to play the game, Kill everyone, Go stealth and avoid everyone or hunt everyone. (one of my favorite moments of the game was trying to avoid all the hunters only for them to spot me and then hiding from them and when they lost me hunting them one by one and watching them while they go NUTS trying to find me).

- the melee combat in the game is awesome with again a very heavy feel to it, when you hit someone with a 2x4 you do feel the weight of the impact, and the hand to hand combat (with the "punch laser" technology where joel will just punch enemies against walls or objects) it feels very fluid, especially since you can avoid enemies attacks and counter them, its not just repeatedly pressing square to punch them till they go down, but you have to actually fight them.

- the enemy AI is great as well (im not gonna say is perfect because there is no such thing in any game) but the enemies do present a great challenge especially the Hunters who will flank you and hunt you down, i have had moments in the game when i thought i killed all the hunters to just find one of them who was tracking me down while crouching and trying to avoid me noiticing him.

- the crafting system is also a great addition to the gameplay since youre decisions of what to craft are really important, and every item is good for certain situations, for example crafting a med kit takes the same elements as crafting a molotov, and the first one is good for fighting hunters while the last one is good against clickers, so you must always think on ahead of what you will need  before crafting.

all in all i find the gameplay in the TLOU to be great and i sincerely dont understand why people complain about it... what did they wanted? to jump 7 meters up in the air while shooting like megaman? or wall running while shooting a la matrix?... i find the gameplay in TLOU to be great and very enjoyable.

My favorite part was at the end when Elle turned into a clicker and bit Joels neck before he grabbed his revolver and blew elles brains out during the struggle. Then as it showed Joels eyes turn into clicker eyes while he was lying there bleeding out. That was one big mind fluck.
