WHAT?! A holiday deal only lasting till the end of the holiday?! THAT'S UNBELIEVABLE! My god, people... did people actually think -for even a second- that this was going to be permanent? XD That kind of depresses me

Not me, I knew this was temporary.

Yeah, the AC bundle will go up to $399, but they will reintroduce the vanilla xb one sku at $350. I won't believe the vanilla xb one will go to $399 until I actually see it.

It's clear that Microsoft is done losing money on every unit sold at least for now. They already confirmed that Xbone can be competitive with PS4 in NA at the right price.

I expect a redesigned Xbone very soon, so they can keep prices lower than Sony.

Microsoft can afford a $50 loss with every console, Sony can't.
I don't see why they should raise the price again, they will just lose market share to PS4 again.

Microsoft's goal for this generation is to stay on par with Sony in the U.S.

Technically Microsoft can afford a $200 loss with their resources.  The issue is how they see Xbox division and their goals within it.  A $199 X1 would guarantee them NA and make them competitive in Europe even.  The issue is they would lose billions over the coming years doing so.

Microsoft made a play for market share, but need to reduce losses to show Xbox is viable for the company.  I think they want the brand integrity to be at a point they can manage small losses or even gains on consoles sold.  This holiday was a mjor push for market share with the idea being all that free marketing and ancilliary income afterwards from those new owners.

My guess is $399 X1 will no longer be a regular thing by June 2015 as sales trends will return to pre November levels.

TBH Microsoft should go back to the Kinect-only Xbox One for $500. We all know January - August don't count, only September, October and November December do.

Actually only November and December. Its the only time when Greenberg shows up.

Got a retro room? Post it here!

Well, of course... That $349 XB1 wasn't supposed to last forever!

Microsoft should leave the console at $349 but without the games to see how well it sells compare to ps4

Even I expected for them to keep the price at $349 since it seemed like the most obvious option.

Well Microsoft cant lose money for that long(it cost $401 to make a kinectless xbox one)

they lose $50 for each one sold

What about 2 games(not even first party games) in bundle? it should cost 50$ more easily. They are losing 100$ per bundle.

It doesn't cost that much to actually stamp a game to a disc.
