It has great games but alas, apart from Nintendo games, there isn't anything there which is quite a shame! Not to say thats a bad thing but most people don't like the fact that there aren't any third parties

Well those people are stupid. They can either kneel to the mighty god of capitalism and buy additional platforms, or stop moanin' about how things aren't exactly how they want.

I mean holy shit, spend that energy on something useful. Like maybe lifting a Wii U off your table, rotating it 180°, then setting it back down, UGH

Wut? They ARE kneeling down to the mighty god of capitalism, by deciding that they don't what a product which won't get relevant 3rd party support. Just check the sales...

lol, reaching at its best. The Wii U has not been turned around and its output in terms of games is still weak at the moment. Its now got a great back catalogue but so has every system after the same period of time (except maybe Sega Saturn)

Either this reply wasn't intended for my post, or you didn't understand the intention behind it.

That article doesn't make a lot of sense. We are entering 2015 with just about all major third party support cancelled for wii u. This year the wii u will be even more a niche format and not get any of the impressive, state of the art games that ps4 or xbone get or the weaker ps3 and 360 versions.

Both ps3 and 360 are still more relevant and in mainland Europe the ps3 is still outselling wii u most of the time despite the huge existing ps3 userbase.

Nintendo are stuck with the wrong product which they must support for a few more years yet.

I don't see the appeal of have yet another GD console to play the same games. We've already got pc, xbox, and playstation, and now steam box. And you peeps want another console playing the same games? I buy one console to play cross platform games and then I buy others for the exclusives and wiiu is by far the best system for exclusives.

Nintendo hasn't turned anything around. Wii U hasn't even outsold the PS4 or XB1 any single week of the year. That is despite them releasing their biggest IP like Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros.

I don't think anyone doubted the Wii U would have great games, but I don't know if it can be called a success.

Don't be outrageous. This implies that there were major plans to begin with.

Major as in major third party titles, watchdogs, call of duty etc. There may be some third party support from major publishers but it will be mainly low key titles and casual. I suspect even that may not happen though. The userbase is still too small and unlikely to grow much now.

There are probably more active wii users out there than wii u. Epic Mickey 2 sold about 5x as many on wii compared to wii u.

Well at least it didn't take a whole load of quote trees before we were struggling to define what "major third-party support" means. Cheers!

Day by Day more people buying the ONLY LUXUS console on the market: the Wii U.

Almost every game is a gem and without any serious competition in its genre.

Sure: there are some genres not available on the Wii U due to the lack of risky publishers.

But Nintendo is making up for that. And when Nintendo does - god beware the other console from being ashamed as seen with Bayonetta 2...

How will that work for Nintendo though? It's highly unlikely the wii u will ever be profitable. At the moment monies generated from 3DS is probably subsidising wii u. Surely they need a console that can compete with the competition. There is absolutely no reason why Nintendo can't have a powerful console of the same type as ps4 and xbone and not only sell their brilliant exclusive games but benefit from third party support and royalties too.

Alternatively perhaps they should go the other route and compete in the micro console sector producing budget price consoles capable of delivering enough performance for their type of games. This would fit well with their children/parent mainstream market. The wii u is basically along those lines if they had kept to a simple top loading design and a traditional joypad.  The slot loading mechanism and gamepad screen has added to costs. However its difficult for Nintendo to impress with their games if the hardware is weak.
