Forums - Gaming - For Those Who "ONLY" Are Getting/Considering FFXV+XCX, Which Do You Think.....

Jumpin said:

1. Will Have The Bigger World? (In Actually Traveling Land Size) - Xenoblade, and there will be a lot more to do in the world too.

2. Will Have More A Depth Feel to It? (Talking World, as in Landscapes/Citys/etc) - Xenoblade, FF games haven't really had much depth in a very long time, and FF15 looks fairly shallow so far. Xenoblade will most likely have FAR more depth to it.

3. Will Have The Better Combat? - Considering Xenoblade for Wii already has much better combat, both more complex and smoother in execution, the new Xenoblade should absolutely demolish FF in this category.

4. Will Innovate better Gameplay? - Xenoblade, easily, it'll likely be a much tighter game with much much more to do.

5. Will Have the Better Story? - Considering Xenoblade is written by the same guy that did Xenogears, and FF stories haven't been good in over a decade, Xenoblade.

6. Will Take Up Most of Gamers time? (Replay value+Longevity) - Probably Xenoblade, I don't think FF15 will even be even half as long as the original Xenoblade. If it is, it will be due to a bunch of fluff like FF13, which was a 5-6 hour game with 30 hours of fluff.

7. Will Have The Better Enemy Designs? (pls note this isnt graphically, we all know FFXV wins [X1/PS4]) - No idea what this means if not graphically.

8. Will Have The Best SideQuest? - This one goes to Xenoblade easily, not even arguable. FF games are not known for their sidequests, Xenoblade is rich with them, there is stuff to do everywhere you go.

9.  Overall Better Game? FFXV/XCX......... Both, Who Cares!!! - I don't think Final Fantasy 15 will be very good based on the series track record since the PS2 days. Like FF13, it will be flashy, but boring. Xenoblade was one of the greatest RPGs of all time, and didn't do 15% of what the next Xenoblade is going to do.

10. Will You Get Day 1? (FFXV/XCX/Both!) - Xenoblade day 1, no plans for FF15.

All in all, FF15 is just the latest example of an FF game to be massively overhyped. We saw last generation what happened with FF13, and Xenoblade came out and delivered a far better experience. Xenoblade X has had MUCH more time and care put into its development, and much more love from the development staff as well. I fully expect FF15 to fall flat, and Xenoblade to surprise even those with the highest expectations.

Completely reading the OP is hard isn't it?

I won't be getting Xenoblade, the only reason is that I can't justify purchasing a Wii for only few game that I'm interested in, but I try to make an educated guess based of what I know.

1. Will Have The Bigger World? (In Actually Traveling Land Size)

Xenoblade. Final Fantasy XV is delivering some features that are heavy on the resources like the dynamic lighting system. The graphical fluidity is much higher for an obvious reason, I can't see them also delivering a world as big as Xenoblade.

2. Will Have More A Depth Feel to It? (Talking World, as in Landscapes/Citys/etc)

Final Fantasy XV. We saw example of that in the trailers. FF showed two wonderful cities and much more variety in environments.

3. Will Have The Better Combat?

Final Fantasy XV. More dynamic with its own twist on the strategic aspects like multi-characters attacks based on the position on the battlefield, the interacting with the environment, time-based parrying. Xenoblade seem like Dragon Age kind of combat, basic and somewhat limitied.

4. Will Innovate better Gameplay?

Can't decide. Not enough info on Xenoblade.

5. Will Have the Better Story?

Final Fantasy XV. The game said to be the darkest FF yet, it aims to explore a new mature theme through realistic kind of friendship. The world in FF had suffered a long years of cold war between nations, it has a political aspects to it. On the other hand, Xenoblade setting is close to my heart. Getting to know the new world and build a new home for humanity. While it sounds promising, it is not as ambitious, at least of what we know so far.

6. Will Take Up Most of Gamers time? (Replay value+Longevity)

Xenoblade, from what I understand, Xenoblade offers a big amount of side content "doing favors to the citizens". FF don't usually focus on the side content.

7. Will Have The Better Enemy Designs? (pls note this isnt graphically, we all know FFXV wins [X1/PS4])

After seeing the Leviathan and Titan. FF is the obvious winner for me

8. Will Have The Best SideQuest?

Xenoblade

9.  Overall Better Game? FFXV/XCX......... Both, Who Cares!!!

Final Fantasy XV. More ambitious and daring to explore new possibilities that are completely new to the series.

10. Will You Get Day 1? (FFXV/XCX/Both!)

Only Final Fantasy unfortunately. I don't own a WiiU

Also, this comparison is very limited. Many things need to be there as well like the scope of the project, the music, the character design, the animations..etc.

I'm gonna go with recent trends and suggest Xenoblade will probably end up being better in every possible way. I'd certainly like to be proven wrong though, I miss the Final Fantasy series so much.

Not sure how you can say this when the strengths and weaknesses are almost exactly the same as previous games.

The EA/Activision comparison holds no water, because they rush games out and have yearly sequels of its major franchises. Square takes as much time as they want and have no qualms over delays.

And if you read the original post, I never said you could just toss them the win. I said if you had to make a decision at first glance, it's not a reach to pick Square. That's all.

Ah, I thought you were saying that Square was the obvious choice; my apologiez.

The EA and Activision comparison was purely me naming wealthy devs who frequently screw up or produce something sub-par.  I could name other companies who burn up money and accomplish nothing special.

Also, Nintendo's willingness to give resources for the developments stage can be seen in the fact that Xenoblade is the only fully finished "Xeno" game; Xenogears was about 2/3 of a game with the third act cut all to pieces.  Xenosaga was a 6-part game cut into a trilogy with the entire second half cut to pieces to cram in at the end.  There's actually an article out there with an interview with Takahashi in it who mentions that he thought the same thing would happen with Xenoblade, but rather than cut resources and rush the game, Nintendo told Takahashi to finish his vision and supplied the resources and allowed for the time neeeded for Xenoblade to be finished properly.

I see. I can believe that, I just thought things like character models and some of the environments were due to budget constraints.

Then follow young Mat whenever he calls,

Not necessarily. That is up to the vision and what the developer is trying to achieve.

The first Xenoblade on the Wii was much bigger in world size and side content than FFXIII.

Great logic.

I guess Captain Toad is better than Skyrim in every category as well then.

good point but i'm thinking that with these 2 games the goals at hand are very similar

and i'd say that the design philosophy of FX13 was different to that of FX15

with FX13 they chose a more linear design style but for months now they've been saying that they are going for a large open world with FX15

Buy a cheap Wii and play Xenoblade Chronicles. Because Xenoblade's combat isn't simple.

lol i'm not sure of if i should respond to this or not because i don't think you've really comprehended what my point was... but i'll bite, how does comparing review scores of unrelated games relate to me saying that more powerful hardware facilitates larger and more complex worlds?
