So far they closed the gap by 800k this year. Only 1.3m to go. That seems doable. If not next year, then the year after.

The Vita has a 1.30 million lead over the Wii U, and by the time Nintendo releases its next console, it will be hard for it to ever overtake the Vita. Especially if it really does come out in 2016 like many are predicting.

Vita will chug along, 2015 will be brutal for wiiu. No big guns while X1 and PS4 getting serious 1st and 3rd party content.

I have no doubt in my mind Wii U will have higher 2015 sales than Vita, it outsold the Vita in Japan this week, which was the Vitas only semi-successful market. Zelda and Mario Maker is going to move alot more units than whatever the Vita has in 2015

Lets be real here, they are both complete failures in terms of sales. WiiU should take the win but who cares, they were both harmful to their respective companies.
Kinda funny though Sony chose to forget about Vita, Nintendo have decided to put a lot of focus these holidays on WiiU in the west instead of the somewhat successful 3DS (I cant praise the 3DS more than that) but I dont think it will do much for them in the end.
What Sony is left with is a product that doesnt need a successor and a market leader. Nintendo is left with a failure and a mediocre handheld and they need to make massive changes next gen.
Yeah...... no. Wii U will pass Vita as it will continue to sell even if at a trickle. While the Vita has lost 1st and even 2nd party support with its only lifeline being niche Japanese games.
The only way Vita will sell more is if it becomes easily hackable.
