It certainly could. This market could and possibly WILL dwarf the console/handheld market.

i dont think it will be that big to dwarf console sales. but imagine if this was on every tv sold in the USA? all you would need is a PS3 controller. the games on this will be old, last gen games however, ones that could be sold for cheap. new and currently hyped and marketed games wont be released on it. this is more for the casuals.

It's not just coming to TVs though. Give it a year or two and anyone with decent broadband or phone service will have access to a expanding library of PS branded games.

Because they are not Nintendo and they don't put feelings and rainbows in the way of business. Since Sony TVs are atm a distant 3rd place, this is the way to go, making an alliance with Samsung once again.

Yes and it always was the official goal to bring this service with a screen, which is why I'm surprised that some people are acting all surprised in here.

Limiting a streaming service like this to products of a certain brand serves nobody.

 lol no.   Sonys is the position to dictate terms, they have dozens of other manafactuers they could go with.  Sammy does not want to be left out as the only one with out the service while being first after sony them selves is a benfit to them.   Fits their policy of showing any and every service they can into their hardware to compete with whatever the competition could come up with.

Oh its just an app... Not sure why its such big news then since Samsung TV's come with so many apps. 

Streaming PS3 games without having to own a console. That's a pretty big deal.

Yeah its an app, welcome to PSNow =P Seriously this is all PSNow has ever been, an app that lets you stream a growing library of PS games to selected devices.

Why its big news is because this is seemingly where gaming is slowly going, streaming new games to any of your devices and playing without an expensive console. And iirc Samsung TVs will be the first non Sony device to be supported.

The idea is to not limit your games to the few hundred million or so that will buy expensive games consoles but to allow anyone with an internet capable device to play them bringing the potential install base to well almost everyone.

Obviously we are a long way off being able to stream the newest AAA titles to your TV/Smartphone/Tablet etc. but thats where we are headed if PSNow is a success.

Yes but we've known about it for months. And its already available on Bravia TV's.
