Agreed...but I doubt power ups will be able to be remembered and transferred from level to level.  I'd like the level to allow for insane height and distance.  There are places Mario never goes and it'd be cool to see people innovate within the Mario framework.  Mario levels are traditionally long rectangles, either verticle or horizontal.  I'd love to see a square level...maybe even having the flagpole be at the center of the level.  This is what has me intrigued and excited.  Fingers crossed.


Based on GameXplain's findings levels can only be two screens high maximum. You do have full control over the length of the level, so you could make it only one or two screens wide.

Yep...was worried about that.  Well limitations are often the best friends of creativity.  Looking forward to it either way.  Now hopefully Metroid Maker isn't far behind!

Same here. It seemed like an obvious feature to include in a game like this, but with Nintendo I'm never too sure what they'll do when it comes to online functionality. Now that its confirmed I can let myself get more hyped :)

It really needs a brand new art style because putting in old art styles can't be that much work right? Especially if they're retro styles that aren't graphically demanding. This game appears to have a 2+ year development cycle. 


Yes, but switching the art styles from the fly means you're basically running all the engines over each other.
