Forums - Sales - The PS4 has overtaken the X1 in another category

Considering Xbox had the upperhand last gen and have more of its sale on USA (which normally means better attachment) it is good if true.

And considering x1 comes bundled with 1-3 games while ps4 is mostly vanilla or paid game, it becomes quite impressive.

Are bundles really included though since most of the X1 bundles are just digital codes (TF, ACU)

I am really weary of any software info on chartz as it never matches anything released by any publisher.   I believe it is hopeless.   For example, Charts had Xbox One COD warfare  as #1, PS4 as #2 and 360 as #3.  It was wrong.  Xbox 360 was number one and this is them 'tracking' retail sales in the US only.  The chances of ROW being anywhere near accurate are amost exactly 0.

Actually COD AW X1 was #1 including bundles which NPD doesn't count.

Edit: Ninja'd

And the PS4 vs being above the Xbox 360 version?

Its not, 360 version is 1.3m. PS4 is 1.2m

Then it was adjusted.  See the OP: http://gamrconnect.vgchartz.com/thread.php?id=194948

VGC counts bundled games (even if digital). From what I know NPD don't.

Ok it was adjusted. Looks like a lot of things were overtracked. That happens when it comes to November and December

So what I learned was

xbox one total software just passed Wii U meaning Wii U has the highest tie ratio of retail store games because of the lack of hardware sales.

Thats what I meant when you asked about all the ROW software.  The chances of it being anywhere near right are about 0 lol.

Tie ratios is irrelevant, as user base increases it will decrease.

Actually not quite true. The longer a console is out, the higher the games to console ratio will become.

That's not say say that new consoles buyers will somewhat dilute the tie ratio a little. But for the ratio to go down it would have to have a huge influx of new owners, and the bigger the install base gets, the bigger the influx of new owners needed to decrease the tie ratio.

Imagine 1 gamer buys 1 game every month.

1st month 100k consoles sold 100k games tie ratio of 1

2nd month 100k consoles sold install base of 200k, 300k games sold tie ratio of 1.5

3rd month 100k consoles sold install base of 300k, 600k games sold tie ratio of 2 etc

It keeps increasing. But if there is a huge influx,

4th month 1000k consoles sold install base 1300k, 1900 games sold tie ratio 1.46

But the bigger the install base the bigger amount of new console owners need to bring the ratio down.

For instance, month 12, console install base is 10,000k, 40,000k games sold tie ratio 4.

If the same infux of consoles buyers now hit, it won't have any impact on tie ratio.

Month 13, 1000k consoles sold console install base 11,000k, 51,000k game sold tie ratio 4.6

These numbers are fairly useless when so many of a game's sales are digital now. In fact I remember reading somewhere that the digital:physical ratio was also MUCH higher on PS4 ironically.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

btw after the november npd results are in and the adjustment, the unity attachrate for us is now 4,5%, eu 8,13% and row 8,21%
looks at least a bit more reliable
