Why is it that the Wii U can handle a solid 60fps but the PS4 and Xbox One can't?

No, the PS4 and Xbox One can EASILY do 60 fps but there are two issues: developers prioritize graphics over smooth gameplay so much that they'll axe framerate to achieve extra pixels. Second issue is hardware is not as important as software: this is why many PC gamers will have issue with lazy console ports whose code is terribly optimized. Latest PC gaming rigs are much more powerful than the current consoles but this does not help when it comes to terribly-written code.

Because Ps4 and Xbox one don't hide behind cellshading to everytime to make things look prettier.

Cell shading makes low resolution textures look better. You don't even need high poly models you just need to say "this isn't low poly,it's our art design".

Take MK8 for example,it's a gorgeous game, but if pay attention you will see low res ground textures here and there; you will see "Blocky" models here and there. But nobody cares cause cell shading make it look pretty.

tl;dr If a ultra realistic game has low resolution textures or low poly models, people would notice. If a nintendo game have, nobody care cause cell shading.

Yet Nintendo doesn't always make cel shaded games and they also have 60 fps. Metroid Prime 1 & 2, better looking games than the entire PS2 library, have 60 frames per second. Rock solid! Metroid Prime 3 is also 60fps.

Oh and have fun with 30 fps in LittlebigPlanet 3... A non-realistic game...

Gamecube was stronger than PS2 do you even know about the consoles you're talking about? besides i was just answering the guys question don't get butthurted!

I know it's stronger. I'm just reinforcing my point. Some of the best looking games of the 6th generation, with realistic graphics... And 60fps! Making your point entirely moot. And Prime 1 was a game from 2002! Very early in the Gamecube's life cycle.

F-Zero GX, a great looking game, also has 60fps. Yet Driveclub only has 30fps.

Good stuff. I'm still on the fence with this game though. If I loved 3D World and thought the Captain Toad mini games were entertaining but not necessary additions, how will I enjoy this game? I should note that I enjoy the charm factor of this game from what I've seen so far.

What point?  Nintendo did non-cartoonish games 10 year ago for gamecube that looked better than Ps2's,thus,WiiU can make non-cellshading games that look better than PS4's...is that is your point? cause that don't make any sense!

My point is when Nintendo makes a realistic looking game it looks great (for the console its on) and has 60fps!

I gave you 4 examples: Metroid Prime 1, 2 & 3 and F-Zero GX. Do you want more? Ok, Eternal Darkness, another realistic looking game with 60fps!

Someone needs to look up the definition of cellshading.  Mario Kart 8 is not cell shaded.  It uses a "realistic" lighting and shading system, all the stylization was through design.

"In typical Nintendo fashion (Mario Kart 8 aside), the game's performance analysis offers little more than a completely horizontal line. It's particularly refreshing to see this level of solidity after the disappointments of this holiday season."

There wasn't a need for the brackets commentary then.

As i said though, they were pretty clear in the MK8 article that it was hardly an issue. In this article they simply mentioned that, with the exception of MK8, the frame-rate here is "completely horizontal", as is standard for many of their games. Regardless to how small the issue with MK8 was, even a 1 frame drop (well, duplicate in MK8's case) puts it outside of "completely horizontal", thus they made a note of it.

That's hardly what i'd call "bitching". They're just being exact in their wording; they do it regardless of the game in question.

Even though it's expected, I'm still disappointed this turned into a typical PS4 Xbox One vs Wii U comment section, with like 2 comments about Captain Toad.

seems a great game.
i would buy it if i hadnt so many games to play(not even touched bayonetta 2 nor HW, and i didnt buy smash yet, and i still have a huge ps3 library to play...).
---
I wonder if zelda will keep 60FPS nitnendo pattern or not...

The only 60fps Zelda game I can remember is ALBW.
