Killzone,  Infamous and Driveclub don't do 60fps, so that leaves knack, lbp and a remake not really graphical highlights. Sony doesn't focus on 60fps for quite a bit of good reasons, but their 30fps is solid, which is netyet than an unstable 60.

Knack isn't 60fps either, it's an unlocked framerate that generally runs in the 30-40fps range, but drops as low as 14fps.

Why is it that the Wii U can handle a solid 60fps but the PS4 and Xbox One can't?

Don't know, maybe cause of this:

"...simple and clean artwork..."

"Captain Toad delivers a 1280x720 image with limited edge smoothing - the game is certainly crisp and colourful but would definitely benefit greatly from improved anti-aliasing, as many edges completely lack any sort of smoothing - particularly in stages with darker colours."

It's a beatiful game, as many Wii U games before it, but it would be even more if Nintendo went with more potent hardware for Wii U.

Why can't I have 720p and no AA on my PS4? It would look sooooo AMAZING!

They still bitch about 59fps in MK8

*sigh* this again? They didn't bitch about it, they were pretty clear about how small an issue it was. To quote them exactly "most will probably not notice it at all, and it has zero affect on playability".

The entire purpose of DF is to analyse video games. Nit picking somewhat comes with the territory. Them mentioning something doesn't mean they thing it's an issue of earth shattering proportions, they're just doing what they're paid for.

I never thought I'd spark such discussion over a rhetorical/joke question... Sorry about that.

Just realized i haven't commented about the game itself yet

It's a shame that CT shares the same lackluster IQ that's become common with Nintendo's WiiU titles (i feel like CT should at least have better AA), but they're done as great as job as always with the frame-rate.

I hope they make a game with a similar technical focus on their next console. 3D World/CT in 1080p with some good AA, sharpened textures, and softer lighting would look really quite stunning (that's not to say CT doesn't already, but you get my meaning).

I wonder if they'll stick with the model-focused art style for the next 3D Mario game? I've grown very fond of it.

Seems like every EAD Tokyo game is even more polished than the one before (if that's possible).

We're talking about a game from Nintendo, a company that has a set the bar for themselves pretty high. They are a developer that is judged differently, because everyone, including themselves, expects a legendary quality on their products. All the other developers like Bethesda, Bioware, Rockstar, From Software? Nah, those are not on the same level, so it's understandable that everyone cuts them some slack.

Nintendo surely did an awesome job with Captain Toad!
