Forums - Sales - Wii U sales barely rise this November in US compared to last year

When will Wii U hit 10 million LT sales

Janurary 35 17.86%

February 17 8.67%

March 38 19.39%

Beyond March 56 28.57%

Who knows 38 19.39%

Results say 12 6.12%

Total:196

Well with M$ pratcailly giving out blowjobs for their overrated console with one good game, shallow gamers overlooked the Wii U in hte process. That right htere proves that gamers today are shallow grafhic whores.

Ya, SSB did nothing basically like I thought. An official bundle could have improved things a little, but I guess not even Nintendo had faith in that.

Don't worry Wii U, put in a good 2015 and your friends are waiting for you in video game heaven ...

People will appreciate you more in oh ... 6-10 years from now. DC and GCN are so adorable.

Obvious troll is obvious.

Geez the Nintendo Doom shit is getting old fast. Reason I can't stand coming here anymore thst and the fact people can troll all day long with no bans but I defend myself and I get banned. SMH. Nintendo is profitable this holiday not the other 2. Microsft and Sony massively advertised and wil probably break even, especially Microsoft who scrambled and slashed their price extensively to get people to buy.
They proved me wrong in sales good for them but Nintendo price cut didn't happen like I thought it should. But Nintendo does well in December and will continue being profitable.
WiiU is not doomed because its profitable. You do not have be number 1 to be profitable.

I hope they realise they will have to make big changes for their next console. Relying solely on their 1st party games just isn't going to work anymore.

And M$ throwing money around ain't going to work anymore either as one of these days M$ will run out of money.

Umm I'm looking at November of 2013 and November of 2014, not much of an increase.

I mean prior month to current month. iow October 2014 vs November 2014. It works better in less peak periods though.

A good example of the metric in action was the month Mario Kart 8 came out. A boost month over month was obvious because we knew that in the month prior nothing important came out.

Consoles generally sale better during the holiday season though. So although Smash Bros. did make Wii U sales increase month over month, it was also suppose to raise Wii U's number YoY. This is especially true because it was positioned to release in the US first before any other region in order to be ready for black friday sales.

However, I don't blame Smash Bros for not helping Wii U sales rise up YoY. I blame Nintendo for not deciding to bundle and price drop their system when Sony and Microsoft did. But seeing how low Wii U sales are, I also understand why a Smash Bro bundle or price drop didn't happen.

You blame Nintendo when M$ was throwing money around at retailers to make speaical deals for their medicore console and wasting so much money on doing drastic price cuts in one year all while the console only has one good game? M$ hi-jack the Wii U's sales by buying their way to the top spot. Go  do your research.

You realise they earn like 30 billion dollars in profit (or something crazy high like that) every quarter right?

So you're saying is that M$ can only win the competition by buying their way to the top spot instead with good games? Yeah, that's for sharing that fact on how overrated and mediocre M$ truly is. I mean, what good game can you think of that isn't a sci-fi/military shooter and racing game on the Xbone (aside from Sunset Overdrive)? Yeah, thoughts so.

Nintendo is making profit with current Wii U price and 1st party games and Amiibo, that is a priority for Nintendo for this fiscal year, and not aggressive making large user base like Microsoft does (Microsoft is taking heavy losses, but they can). Because of that there was no price cut for holiday season and SSB bundle, not even good Black Friday deals, all that will surely bring much better number for this november.

Last quarter Nintendo make larger profit than Sony gaming division, despite much better PS4 sale than Wii U and 3DS combine. I am sure that this quarter situation will be similar, Nintendo will again make very good profit.

So Smash Bros couldn't save the WiiU? So much for a super-unrivaled-GOTY lol... But there's always Pokken I suppose.

The console sales don't change the fact that Smash Bros is one of the games of the year, what a dumb comment.

Yeah, I think the writing was on the wall when it became obvious Nintendo weren't even attempting to compete in Black Friday deals. Xbox One and PS4 dominated that week in the UK and US because of huge amounts of deals and marketing. Instead of drumming up bundles and deals for one of their biggest releases, Nintendo were relatively quiet.

This year must be all about profit. It'll be interesting to see if Nintendo act more aggressively after this financial year closes, or if this profit orientated strategy is the plan for the rest of Wii U's lifespan.
