Forums - Nintendo - Why does NOA love to "goldify" all the boxarts? Nintendo strikes again with XCX!

Only for Zelda games. I'm here looking at Super Mario 3D World, Pikmin 3, New Super Mario Bros. U and The Wonderful 101 cases and they aren't exactly gold.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

The originals do look alot better, Especially skyward sword O.O

Who doesn't want a gold game case?

In Europe we have all of those golden boxarts too.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Targeting specific ethnicity? jk

I dunno but I like the look of it.

They all look better in gold, sans Captain Toad.

The Zelda ones I understand. It's kind of a "tradition" at this point. I DO wish they'd offer the alternate box-arts here though. And the Captain Toad box-art just boggles my mind...why swap out the clouds/sky for the obnoxious yellow?

Upcoming Games To Get

Definite: Kirby Star Allies (Switch), Mario Tennis Aces (Switch), Fire Emblem (Switch), Yoshi (Switch), Pokemon (Switch), Kingdom Hearts 3 (PS4), Monster Hunter World (PS4)

Considering: Fe (Switch), Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze (Switch), The World Ends With You (Switch), Ys VIII (Switch), Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition (PS4), Kingdom Hearts 2.8 Remix (PS4), The Last Guardian (PS4), Shadow of the Colossus HD (PS4), Anthem (PS4), Shenmue 3 (PS4), WiLD (PS4)

Except for 64 and Gamecube Wind Waker where the gold boxart just looks better, I think the other box arts look far better and think Nintendo should have stuck with those.

The Golden color has become a tradition since the NES and now there's a strong association between the Gold color and Zelda in the West.  The Gold color might have been picked because it is the color of the Triforce which is the centerpiece of the Zelda series.

Now Gold and Zelda just go together like Lime Green and Kawasaki. - http://www.kawasaki-cp.khi.co.jp/msinfo/history/index_e.html

Whoa. The originals are way, way better. The background details jump out at you and stir your imagination. A few of the gold ones look awful in contrast. They're simply dull.
