Forums - Gaming - So DriveClub just smoked Forza

I don't even think Driveclub looked that great before let alone now. Any game woudl look better with an extra 3 months of development. Forza Horizon 2 was much more visually impressive and still is because of the scale, lighting and best damn day/night cycle ever.

What a totally surprising comment coming from you

The rain indeed looks out of this world. It's absolutely gorgeous how it hits the camera, the car, responds to wind. The water on the track looks absolutely incredible too. I think they done the best work with rain ever in gaming history.

Of course driveclub has better visual, but consider ps4 is a better hardware and forza is open world, and its textures are 'low' res in comparison and less details.

I second this.

With the weather update visually is so cloce to real life no game comes even close.  Given the giant difference in overall graphics it is showing, any else like me here who just cant wait for the eventual Forza 6 and GT7 showdowm.  Both high quality franchises, but i think PS4 clearly evident power advanbtage will be the reason for all around GT standing head and shoulders above Forza but only is Kaz's stubborness doe snot hold it back from being trualy the racer of this gen.

Does it make Driveclubs gameplay any better?

It sure makes it even more challenging. From an easy win, back to a hard struggle after already having driven 800km on the track. The gameplay is supurb, racing feels just right, perfect balance between speed and danger. The tracks are all extremely well put together. This kind of racing, where learning every bump on the track matters, simply can't be gotten from an open world racer. NFS Rivals and FH have their own strengths, but I never really get engaged in the actual racing in those games. Still finding challenge, thrills and fun after 800km on any track is what sets DC apart. It's like racing on the Nordschleife, except the AI is actually racin against you.

They are different games. FH is an arcade, DC is more between arcade and Sim where driving skills are more required, and enfasis is put in the handling , driving a car to the limit, with far more realistic physics, handling. As graphics quality, IQ, details, Textures, effects, no comparison, DC is superior, hands down.

But as I said, FH2 is open world and runs on a weaker hardware, so it's normal, nothing surprising.

Now make a Motorstorm with those graphics and I'll be the first to preorder.

Personally thought both looked very impressive. Granted I'm not a fan of racing sims but I might possibly get Forza due to it being highly recommended to me from several people on this forum as well as some friends of mine.

Apparently according to Eurogamer, The Crew smoked both Driveclub and Forza. They gave the crew an 8, Driveclub 6, Forza 5 a 7.

That with terrible story that only gets in the way, unfair (mmo level based) AI and police, no mention of the car handling (although in the preview it was said to be competent, yet never exciting), online only, micro transactions to unlock better cars (or grind for hundreds of hours), poor image quality (according to DF). But it's open world! (FH2 is save, open world -> 9)

I wouldn't mind driving across that vast map, I greatly enjoyed TDU and TDU2 as well. Maybe next year when it's discounted and I finally had enough of Driveclub. Playing those 2 next to each other is going to be hugely disappointing for one of them.
