Forums - Gaming - "48 new PS4 indie games revealed since September, and NONE of them were announced for XB1." - Add non-indies and you've got a stew going

A lot of games are coming out on the PC that are not on the PS4, and console gamers continue to deny that the PC is the master race. Stop changing your tune when it benefits your side.

Good, I hope as many of them as possible find an audience. Small game publishing is the industry's best hope the way I see it.

I don't know whether it applies to the entirety of the industry, but small game publishing is most certainly the only way non-established or minor studios/developers can hope to have their games published and played.

In many ways, the video game industry has become much more like the film industry. Blockbusters will never go away, but the number of small budget films will always far outnumber them.

Yeah, indie games... I'd rather pay and play Uncharted 4 or GoW IV than all those games combined for free.

Hardcore, close minded gamers, lovely.

I bet if they all said zelda, you would pick up every single one...twice...digitally.

OT: It's certainly nice, but I'm not much of an indie gamer. I have enjoyed many of the freebies from PS+ however.

Very good for ps4 players. And a lot of downplay and accusations of fanboyism. Will our dear mods jump in and seize the thread?

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."

I'm just kinda bummed that the original intent of the NeoGAF thread was a hard look at Microsoft's Parity Clause and how it's affected the output of the Xbox Indie Community. A great thread (was reading it last night) with constructive criticisms so that hopefully Microsoft could improve its indie development scene (as the 360 was the launch pad of the indie community last generation).

Now it's been twisted on its way to VGChartz to suit a more "list wars" approach. Which I think misses the point of the original thread completely. And of course this had led to responses that fall into a swinging pendulum. On one hand we have the "Well I don't like indies anyways!", which doesn't address *anything* the original thread brings up. And on the other side we have a "Yay go PlayStation can't wait to see the reactions lol!", which again, doesn't address *anything* the original thread brings up.

There's a few bright spots of actual discussion here, but for the most part. The thread's a wasted opportunity for reasoned and constructive discussion, and that's a damn shame.

EDIT: Please don't use this post to derail the thread into a this fanbase/that fanbase war. Let's talk about the Parity Clause and what can be done about it instead.

And none make me want to go out a buy a ps4

This is really the short answer.  Most of the indie games have no real following to the point people are making system buying decisions based on their availability.

BUT, being an XB1 owner, I am still a little envious of having that many more games to choose from.  The reality is, that there are now enough retail games to keep me busy on my XB1/WiiU/PC.  So I wouldn't do many or any indie titles unless someone pushed me to it with a great endorsement.

It is near the end of the end....

Indy games are nice and were nice last gen but I thing the more indy games =/= the better. I think indy devs add a lot to the gaming industry and a lot of gems are being made by them... but also a lot of crap or needs to be polished games. It's sad that MS enforces some sort of parity to these people because they need the multiplatform userbase to start making a living out of it.

What's more sad is seeing some console cheerleaders using indy games as a "weapon" to sh*t on another fanbase. I can only hope for most of these devs to break even and be able to invest in their passion but for that they'll need the support of gamers. Not cheering when their console has exclusivity but supporting them with their money. People go there and debate how much indies are good on their console but frankly, the more indy =/= the better.

It's a good thing PC is my main platform since most indie games go there first most of the time and to everyone else later.

Only "exclusive" indie I'm interested in on the PS4 was No Mans Sky but now it's going to PC so I have no worries and in the end Indie devs should be aiming to have their games reach everyone, not just the "one large install base", especially since PC is factually the largest when you throw in the Steam, GmG and GoG accounts along with multiplatform gamers like myself in general, those devs should not be limiting their games to a single system while forcing gamers into buying the one system, to me that's what AAA games are for and it's my main reason for getting a Wii U and XB1 next year.

Also really getting tired how info from Gaf is turned into console war list threads, all they do is serve as free gloat passes without fear of the hammer coming down on the enablers but the those who were riled up.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Indies will dominates, and great indies are coming exclusively to PS4, great job SONY World Wide Studio. Hope RPG and JRPG will also coming in the near future.
