If there were one thing that was consistent in every console generation that contributed to a console's success is that "Content is King." Truth.

I honestly don't understand why the ms release parity clause exists. You can only pull things like that when you're way ahead....like they did with 360. I expect the parity clause to go away, and it will be lauded as a "step in the right direction". |
I dont understand why it's taking so long to be honest with you. They are still pushing it, I went to a funding event in September and they are still - day on day with competition but add additional content type situation.
They should have got rid of that pause ages ago, the longer it goes on the worse it will get.

Didn't you hear?
You're Gonna Carry That Weight.
Xbox One - PS4 - Wii U - PC
At the end of the day, the Parity Clause is bad for everyone.
Obviously the big one is on the Xbox One owners, who have less games to choose from and play.
But it's also bad for Microsoft, who because of the lower amount of games present, receive less revenue from the absent sales of said games.
And of course it's bad for the developer, who now have to choose to either spend more money now for added console development for Xbox One, or no Xbox One development at all (or hope for a pardon from the clause later on).
Despite Sony fans not getting Shovel Knight at the start, I'm sure they're not complaining about getting the game now rather than never. A great game is a great game, no matter when it's released on your console of choice (*hugs Guacamelee which was released later on Wii U*)
Let's ignore the petty bragging and goading and see this as a gamer issue. More awesome games is never a bad thing.
I see that Xbox has seen it (the original OP in question). Prety cool.

My question is when the 360 was getting a lot of Indie games over the PS3, a lot of people who owned a PS3 did not care. Now the PS4 is getting a lot of indie games over the X1 and suddenly the bar has changed.
Its great that the PS4 is receiving a lot of indie games but until one of those games become system sellers not sure if it really makes a difference. Also, just because no announcement of an X1 version does not mean this will not change over time. When all is said and done, I am sure these developers want as many people playing their game as possible.
Meh, I don't play indies and most people don't play most of them either.

Has there been a developer who has not been denied to self publish on the X1 due to the parity clause. I know we keep talking about it but already are games that have come out on other systems first that MS has approved for the X1. One developer was asked how they got by the parity clause from MS and they simple said they just registered their game. If anything, as long as a project looks legit, MS is more than happy to forego the Parity Clause.
I must say as a gamer, I do not care about having a lot of games to choose from, I only care about quality games to choose from. If people really cared about having the system with the most games then you would hook up your PC to your TV and not bother with a console.

I believe it's because they would like to have it for when sales are much better, which makes me think that they believe they can even this out somehow. But it's not going to happen. All this currently is doing for them is earning xbox negative press.

I don't think that's true at all. I for one know that I've seen a lot of positive comments about xb360 games from sony fans. Myself, I loved lots of indies on 360.
From what I remember ps3 actually had the better indie lineup, and there were lots of very vocal members about the awesome indie games available. Just ask bedgenome.
And actually, if I remember correctly, it was xbox fans who were always talking about how the xb360 indie game selection was amazing, and then when ps went ahead and said they had 140 indies coming or whatever, xb fans called it the indiestation and suddenly indie games didn't matter. Just like you're implying right now that indie's don't matter (in italics)

This is something I bring up in every one of these threads but the basic response is "yeah and now xbox guys dont care about indies". Which I don't think is really true, at least not here. Those of us who were big on XBLA games last gen here, still seem to be. The difference is Xbox guys are a minority here, Playstation guys are not. Now the majority voice is indies are cool.
On the one hand I don't understand why MS has the indie clause. Most of these games are no big deal at all, and the ones that are, typically launch together on both platforms barring some exclusive deal. But on the other hand I realize a lot of people make way too big a deal about it. The good indie games come out on both platforms in the vast majority of times. But dropping the indie clause would fix all of it.
