You miss my point entirely.MS lacks first party games so no matter what Sony and Nintendo do with helping with development, they still have more games they own than MS. As for Indie games, really? Those would not be made without someone giving them money and are not comparable to an esablished retail game that started on PSX like Tomb Rider.

Rise of TR would have been made without MS' help (if they really are helping and not just paying for it which it's obvious they just paid to keep it off the PS4) as the last TR was developed without MS.We don't know the deal with Beyonetta 2 and that was Platinum's decision as they needed a publisher (though I am sure they could have found a third party) and Beyonetta 1 sold poorly.

I don't care if MS bought the rights to the franchise as U4 will be a much better game and i had no plans to buy RoTR period.Just pointing out the truth. It still does not make a single platform better for exclusives when th don't own th games and is a weak business practice.

And you are way off topic. This has nothing to do with Microsoft's lack of first-party games, and everything to do with money-hatting. Why should one company get away with it while the other gets grilled? Just because Sony and Nintendo have more first-party titles doesn't make them any more or less excused in regards to moneyhatting. It's a business, corporations don't play friends with each other. Microsoft knows that its best bet is to help develop and publish games from third parties as timed exclusives, so it does just that. It's not a weak business practice, if it was all the corporations wouldn't do it.

And you really think that anyone in the industry is innocent? Sony helped develop and publish the Ratchet and Clank games and the Resistance games, and now is doing the same with Street Fighter 5. Nintendo helped out with plenty of Rare titles, and with Bayonetta 2 (which had only Nintendo to turn to, in the end). Microsoft is doing it with Tomb Raider, a franchise that needs all the help it can get to take off in an industry that already has a similar game that is much more of a powerhouse (Uncharted).

I was replying to your comment about people getting off MS back.lol the lack of paying for first party in favor of paying for timed DLC and third party games was the topic from your comment.

Yes, and I was on topic about people getting off of Microsoft's back for moneyhatting. Nothing I said had anything to do with MS's preceived lack of first-party titles.

They offered to pay for the Xbox version. They are trying to use the same excuse as Sony. Capcom is going under and SE isn't.

And because of a deal like this, SE will continue to not go under.

Microsoft taking care of developers! Warms the heart.

Has Square shown any sign of going under? I could've sworn some time ago Capcom was ready to auction themselves off to the highest bidder.

New statement from Square Enix

“Our partnership with Microsoft on ‘Rise of the Tomb Raider’ does have a duration, but we aren’t discussing those details at this time and are focused on collaborating to deliver a great game on Xbox One and Xbox 360,” a Square Enix representative told us via email. For those of you on PC and PlayStation systems, your hope of playing Rise of the Tomb Raider on other systems lives on.

Good, PS4 version confirmed then

Of course it's confirmed. It was confirmed months ago, and nothing has changed since.

Because, both MS and SE had plenty of chances to say: "RoTR is XBox exclusive for the life if the title and will never come to other consoles!" Heck, it didn't stop them from saying DR3 is a full-on XOne exclusive exclusive, only to have it appear on PC less than a year later...

Tomb Raider will no longer come to ps4 if this is the case

I know what this really is. Its bullshit and we've seen it before. MS did the same thing with Mass Effect. They believed in the project and paid for an Xbox 360 version to be ported from the PC. Paying for the port of a console version of a game and trying to keep it exclusive before the launch is nothing new to them.

I think people are on MS back more because they are the only company who pays for third party games instead of their own first party games.Nintendo and Sony have a large list of first party unlike MS.

If by "paying" you mean 'help in developing and publishing the game", then both Sony and Nintendo do it. Sony does it with plenty of indies that will never make it to the One and Nintendo did it recently with Bayonetta 2, which will almost certainly be a Wii U exclusive.

Just be happy that it it's only timed exclusive. This is a practice that will never go away, since devs will always be appreciative of a company helping fund their game.

If MS didnt buy third party products the Xbox as a brand would be nowhere. The other two are not primarily known for that even though in their prime they all had exclusive third party.

And there you go. Microsoft used their resources to carve out a market, and we are blaming them for it? It's not like MS moneyhats every game on the planet, one major game every few years is not a big deal. Did Nintendo fans complain when Sony formed a relationship with SE and invested in them, while getting a previously Nintendo-only franchise (Final Fantasy) as an exclusive for years?

It's just how the industry works. Every one does it, some more than others, but it happens. Blaming MS only isn't fair at all. After all, where would Sony be if they didn't have Insomniac and where would Nintendo be without Rare? There are plenty of examples of the companies hiring and supporting external devs for exclusive content, and many of them were integral to their consoles.

LOL this is Bayonetta 2 all over again, and some folks are still in denial over it. I love it.

Not even the same thing but okay.

How are they not the same if not at the very least incredibily similar?

Bayonetta 2... developed by Platinum Games, published and partially funded by Nintendo, with SEGA owning the IP.  It becomes a defacto Wii U exclusive because of Nintendo's involvement, and gamers get their panties in a bunch over it.

Rise of the Tomb Raider... developed by Crystal Dynamics, published and partially funded by Microsoft, with Square Enix holding the IP.  It now becomes a defacto X1 exclusive because of M$'s involvement, and gamers get their panties in a bunch over it.

Nope, no similarities at all here.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

The difference is Bayonetta 2 is only going to be released on any platform except Wii U. Tomb Raider will be released on other platforms outside of Xbox.

Yes, PC.  PS4 may get a "definitive" / "GOTY" version down the road, but for now it's not happening.
