Forums - Gaming - [Kotaku] Next year's big Assassin's Creed is set in Victorian London UPDATE: Confirmed real by Ubisoft!

Sigh, I wonder how low the quality will go if they keep the yearly rehashing. would have been ok with one game every 2 years.

i love the victorian setting and im really happy to see many games take a shot at said setting, first The Order 1886 then Bloodborne and now This.

having said that, the game is literally gonna be milked to death... oh well at least i like the setting this time

Ass Creed 1886 aye?

Will this game even have a budget? They're just gonna use stuff ftom Unity, so why bother? Oh right, because they're greedy assholes.

Wouldn't be surprised if the budget was well over $100m. Ubisoft certainly aren't cheap, they actually spend insane amounts of money on their games. Sadly just throwing money and hundreds of devs at a project doesn't equal quality.

Hell yes. Been waiting for London.

I guess this is why they canceled Patrice Désilets' 1666 game. I wonder if any of the concepts from that game were appropriated for this.

I'm actually looking forward to this, as I do with all Assassin's Creed games lol... haven't bought Unity yet due to it being plagued with bugs and framerate issues, but once they've been sorted out with patches, I'll be buying it!

Its really not that bad to be honest.

Well to tell the truth, the footage I've seen has all been uploaded onto YouTube BEFORE the latest patch which had 300 or so fixes, and I think I read somewhere that Ubisoft had said they're working on another patch which should fix the framerate issue... if that is correct, then I'll buy the game once the patch has released and I've heard positive feedback on it... it really is a shame the game released as it did, since Assassin's Creed is by far one of my favourite IP's of the last gen, and I'd love to carry on playing it, but I don't want to buy something that's considered by many to be broken

Wasnt it 7000 fixes? or did i just make that up haha anyway i hope you enjoy it when you get it !

The series should go back in time imo. An egyptian or Roman setting could renew the franchise for me.

That would be amazing! An accurately re-created Rome with the entire colosseum packed with baying crowds and gladiator battles taking place. You would have to make a hit on one of them while he's fighting in the pit. Or just scaling the pyramids in ancient egypt and riding around on a chariot. It would be so much fun.

They really need to iron out the kinks with the engine first though. The performance issues with the last release has made me hesitant about getting hyped for any future games in the series. I'm sure Ubisoft has at least taken note of the online backlash, but they're probably still happy with the sales of Unity.
