Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Microsoft Exec: Xbox One Sales Were Incredible During Black Friday, Possibly Takes A Shot At PS4

Only thing I take from this is that the Xbox Undershipped. Could you imagine if they didnt?

how could they have undershipped??? Not a week ago everybody was dead convinced that they overshipped and several millions of consoles were stuffed in the retail channels collecting dust on shelves

people can't have it both ways from one week to the next... You can't have millions of console disappear so either XBO is severely undertracked on VGC and I mean millions undertracked and then they might have undershipped... Or they just died extremely well and sold above expectation...

if the xbox didnt sell out at every target store its an epic fail. just selling out isnt a big deal. compared to last year, the entry price for the xb1 was 50% off.

280 compared to 560.

560 since when Xbox one was 560 in usa lol

entry point..   last year if you wanted to buy an xbox you also needed to buy a game, hence 560.  This year its(at target) a bundle for 330 and you get a 50 dollar gift card,  so your essentially getting the console + game for 280

you are probably the first one I see formulating it almost properly in your initial statement... But still a but biased you can't say it was 560 then cause you had to buy a game and then turn around and say it's 280 now cause you get a 50 dollars gift card... Bottom line if you wanted to play XBO you had to pay 560 and now you'll have to shell out 330... (unless you start venturing into hypothetical that you could sell he gift card or the game etc, but you could also say the other guy could sell the Kinect too now etc)... So either you say it was 560 then and 330 now or 500 then and 280 now but in any case it sure is a great price cut...

I love how people try to downplay it with WW result and make like MS is a show off... You want one number that should put things straight and prove that their is only one show off company here that should serious reconsider their business practice in general instead of playing the big dogs which they are not with their admittedly big gaming division...

No matter how they try to flip it with one or two division... Sony is a slum dog in comparison to MS and there miger success in the gaming industry is certainly nothing to show off about even if they'd do 10 times better than MS in that market...

Why is everyone so mad in this thread? doesn't sony take jabs at MS all the time. Comes across like you're all threatened and wounded.

It would've just taken a little while longer like it did with PS4. I believe the only reason why PS4 seems to be taking a little longer to sell out is because there's a lot more PS4's available. MS announced they'd have 10 million shipped "shortly", right? Well, we still never got any clarification on just what shortly means. That number could've easily just been the number of consoles they would have shipped to retailers by the end of the holidays. MS has made some desperate moves to push their console's sales as of late, which also means they're going to be careful. The more consoles they manufacture, ship, and sell at a loss, the more money they lose. I think you're right about it being undershipped i the sense that MS didn't ship as many as they normally would.

That being said, I really don't think MS should be celebrating too hard. Let's not forget that 1) this is the US, and 2) the PS4 is most likely doing equally as good, if not better. Let's not forget that pretty much throughout the entirety of last gen in the US, the 360 reigned superior over the PS3, especially on Black Friday. PS3 did great, but there was never really competition there. 360 was the console to beat. The fact that MS is making some very desparate moves, vs. Sony doing nothing besides more expensive bundles, and still only achieving parity in only the US, says a lot more about the PS4 and Sony than it does about XBone and MS. Greenberg should probably think before he tries to throw rocks when he's in a glass house, himself.

Black Friday has come and gone. We hope that you were able to pick up your favorite consoles and games at a pretty cheap rate. This year’s Holiday is pretty important for Microsoft and Xbox One. The console is currently lagging in sales compared to the PlayStation 4, with rumors stating that the PS4 has already sold 15 million consoles compared to 8 million Xbox Ones out there.

Having said that, according to Aaron Greenberg, who looks after the marketing of first and third party games studios at Microsoft, the Xbox One had an incredible Black Friday. “Sales were incredible, grateful for all the support and new fans,” he tweeted. It will be interesting to see what kind of figures Xbox One did during the sale. Hopefully the next NPD sales figures will give us a broader picture.

Furthermore, Greenberg also revealed that the Xbox One was a total sellout in one of the Target stores in California. In the same tweet he shared an interesting picture which shows a pallet full of PlayStation 4s. (I see what you did there, Aaron!) Unfortunately this made a few fans a bit unhappy.

sold out here in California, "whole pallet sold out" per employee here.

Someone ask this guy how they're doing world wide... see how quickly that shit dissipates. lol

It's hilarious because all he did was take a picture of a stack of PS4's. But the real kicker is the fact that there's a stack of 360's right next to it. XD

Lol, that's so true. Everyone was confident MS overshipped including me! It doesn't seem like the case though now, at least in North America.

Firstly why "possibly" in the title?? Clearly taking a shot at PS4
Secondly BF draws in many more casuals and the Xbox brand is still strong in the US thanks to the 360. Imo MS should take the crown this holiday season globally in the US.

That has literally nothing to do with the thread. Like absolutely nothing. You could have written a post about Soviet Russia and it would have been more relevant than this.

..... having to buy a game last year, and getting a card with a 50 dollar value to a store that pretty much sells everything is a bit different. you dont need to sell it to get a full 50 dollar value.    i can however see why YOU have a problem with it though so im going to enjoy continueing to call it 280 like it really is.

the console is halff price from last year
