ok, then show us a trailer that indicates that. so far you've presented your game like a successor of the star ocean series, which isn't exactly, what i would consider, storyheavy.

I don't follow. This E3's trailer was entirely story-focused.

sorry, but i'll take this: http://youtu.be/9ywY4S5Q0MM anytime over what their e3 trailer was. they have to do way better to impress me.

I'm sort of hyped for this but it's a shame the music isn't composed by Mitsuda.

Neither was the first game, so it has that going for it. Though Xenogears and Saga were composed by him.

Xenogears is the only Xeno game I played and finished. I did play Xenosaga Episode 1 but just for a few minutes at a friend's house. And yes I know the first Xenoblade wasn't composed by Mitsuda (except the main theme or ending theme if I remember right)

Twas the ending theme. Here

That is a five-minute-long launch trailer.

Why did you cut to half-way into the song, the build up is part of the journey! :P
Excellent music though, no doubt exploring is going to be an absolute joy coupled with the soundtrack.

I wanted to cut straight to the point!

ok than take that one for comparison: http://youtu.be/myB_6n6_lFA

my point is: shouldn't they have something way better than this by now if their story claims are true?

As far as the Star Ocean trailer:

From a technical standpoint (facts) the audio mixing sucks and the voice overs are terrible.

From a personal standpoint (opinions) the music doesn't fit the tone of the story and the pacing is bad.

Star Ocean's trailer < Xenoblade Chronicles X trailer IMO.

And that trailer was published 2 months before the game's release.

"Better" how? You haven't actually identified a problem with the Xenoblade trailer, you just don't seem to care about it. And I don't see what's so great about the trailer you just linked. It doesn't even introduce a conflict for the game. At least the Xenoblade trailer shows you what kind of problems the player and co. will have to deal with beyond the opening cutscene.

It doesn't really help that they have done very, very little of the localization so far, so full story trailers for the North American market would be a little premature.

Xenoblade Wii got an awesome trailer 5 months before its American release. Not sure when this one was shown for Japan or Europe relative to their release dates.

Of course, it reveals very little about the story, opting to introduce the world and characters and then show a bunch of gameplay followed by extremely late-game scenes which are meaningless when taken out of context. Not unlike what we've seen of Xenoblade X.
