OK, time to become unpopular. In my opinion the worst is Wind Waker, though I'll note that I've never played Majora's Mask (that'll change when the 3DS remake comes out)

Yeah, sorry Wind Waker, I love you, but the main 3D Zelda games are of such prodigious quality and Wind Waker is just a little bit worse than the others for me. The sailing can be dull, the dungeon design is middling, the game is short in comparison to the others, and it just left the least impression. Like I say, in any other series Wind Waker would be the best, but for a Zelda game more can be given.

Without reading the comments, I'm going to guess that everyone's going to diss Skyward Sword. For my part, I had a lot of fun with Skyward Sword - in particular the great selection of puzzles and items, and taking a genuine gamble with motion controls that I think paid off mostly. In my opinion Skyward Sword has the best dungeons - in particular the Ancient Cistern and the Sandship stand out across the whole series.

As for the points against Twilight Princess, I agree with 1) and 2), but I disagree with 3). I actually really like the connect between normal Hyrule and the Twilight World, both conceptually and graphically. I think as soon as you use the word "cartoonish" you lose me anyway. The point of the two contrasting styles was to show how the Twilight World was taking over regular Hyrule, and honestly, without that "cartoonish" element to it I think the game would have seriously lacked character. Overall I put Twilight Princess higher than Wind Waker for sure.

Completely agree.

And bolded: it's so epic that they still can make dungeons that really stand out from the rest of the series, especially for us veterans. It's almost godlike, and I always look forward to the next game in the series, always something new. Just realized how hard it is to wait for Zelda Wii U...

Yep.

Going to have to go with Skyward Sword, which is still a great game overall.

" Rebellion Against Tyrants Is Obedience To God"

I haven't played Skyward Sword yet, but it depends on what mood I'm in.

Ocarina easily has the weakest script of any of them.

Wind Waker has boring sailing.

Twilight Princess is an Ocarina clone with an improved script and clunky wolf combat.

It's a tough call, but I would say Ocarina is the worst of them. I value script above anything and Ocarina really has a clunker,

No. The worst is The Wind Waker. Zero challenge in the game and the weaker dungeons in the series. Twilight Princess is good but very overrated.

Overworld is big but linear, just long corridors. Dungeons are big but linear, without any difficult and predictable puzzles. The items are a joke as you only use in the dungeon you got it. Enemies looks great but play dumb. No magic. And I loved the wolf sections. The first half is almost perfect, then the second half is a terrible copy paste of Ocarina of Time.

Skyward Sword fortunately fixed many things like an explorable main area before dungeons with a lot of puzzles, many of them new ones or more interesting. You use your few items a lot in every part of the game. Unfortunately, it was even more linear than Twilight Princess.

Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask remains as the best Zelda because it had a lot of great puzzles and well designed dungeons. Not the jokes we get today with a lot of hints, like in Twilight Princess.

Am I the only here who doesn't see what is " so fucking awful" about Skyward Sword? Seriosuly now..

No, you're not alone. I adore Skyward Sword, one of my top games of last gen.

Glad to see that.. Skyward Sword had its flaws, but it was till a great Zelda game! The story and the soundtrack are the pinnacle of what the Zelda franchise can offer in those departments!

SS soundtrack is not that great. Anyway, Skyward Sword is one of the best Zelda games ever.

By far, yes. I would have to say...

Skyward Sword
Wind Waker
Majora's Mask (for style; I actually HATE playing it because of the clock)
Ocarina of Time
Twilight Princess

Wow at all the Skyward Sword hate!

While I would say that Skyward Sword would be the worst (by little), I believe it is hard to properly assess Skyward Sword mainly because it has only been out for a few years. I truly believe that it takes quite some time to fully appreciate a video game. For example, I thought Twilight Princess was a great game when I was playing it, but it was only until I watched my younger brother play through it for the first time that I truly appreciated some aspects of the game.

So while my vote goes to Skyward Sword, I'm interested to see how my opinion on the game will change in the coming years.

(Note: I haven't finished Majora's Mask, I'll make it a Thanksgiving Break goal :P. Also, I think Ocarina of Time would be the best).
